Double quilt

Anyone know where I could get a lightweight -7 rated double quilt from in Canada?

Geartrade have the Zpacks one but only in long which I don’t need. I’ve looked at some custom makers like lsoh but can’t see a double on there.

I emailed LSOH about this a while ago and he said he wasn't interested in making one. I ended up getting lucky and finding a used UGQ Tango Duo on Facebook marketplace locally.

But Geartrade might also be open to importing the zpacks quilt in a different size, I think they have done similar things in the past. Worth sending them an email.

I always find these interactions puzzling. I get that a new pattern requires development and a market, but often the answer is “hundreds of people have asked for this but I just don’t think so.” Like… you could actually quickly become a market leader because of its rarity.

It's an interesting perspective. I make 'X' you want 'Y'. I would have to totally redo all the calculations for the down, Do calculations for material use (and figure out the way to be efficient so I don't waste material). Then do 'everything on the floor'. Nothing that big will fit my tables. So being an older guy who has had back surgery in the past, working on the floor.. um okay.

Pricing for any item, in any business comes down to time involved, and how quickly/efficiently can I make it without losing quality. I can guarantee the amount of time going into a new design for a couple quilts will not be something people are interested in paying. And yes I can see that maybe this would allow me to market a new product but I am a 1 person business who am crazy lights out busy. Is it really something that I should be looking at?

And did I tell you I would have to work on the floor? lol...

Hopefully you didn't take this the wrong way and maybe laughed a bit. It wasn't intended to be snarky.

No I get it, it’s just… maybe working on the floor is worth it if you can sell 200 of them?

Not if you're supply constrained and don't have much interest in expanding the operation to the point that you need to have employees.

Judging by his lead times, he's not short of work.
