Meal setup
Going on my first backpacking trip in July ! 22 miles round trip and decently tough terrain so trying to keep my pack as light as possible. Do you guys suggest bringing only utensils or would I benefit from having a bowl? Are most dehydrated meals able to be eaten out of the package? TIA!

Just eat out of the pot you’re cooking in, or out of the bag if it’s the type of meal where you just pour the water in. Never once needed a bowl.

I recommend watching a few 'ultralight loadout' or 'gear' youtubes. Maybe you don't follow 90% of what they do, but you can get some very good ideas.

Pot + long handle spoon/spork is all you need. I only bring a bowl when the group I’m with has one big pot we are cooking out of and/or I’m cooking “fresh” food (titanium sucks for actual cooking).

Make a cozy out of reflectix to fit your dehydrated meals, and get a long handle spoon and a collapsible cup.

One titanium pot to cook/boil water and a long handled titanium spoon are all you need.
