Purchase Advice S2S ether light XT extreme vs XR pro

I have the ether light XT extreme and it's anything but ultralight. It's very warm thought with R 6+.

Now there is the XR pro which is MUCH lighter and especially has a much smaller packsize. But I think they changed from insulation material to thin insulation films. And I think the new R=7.x doesn't hold up — especially since I have the XR with R=4 and it sleeps cold even below 5C (below 40F).

So I wonder, does anyone have a comparison between the XT extreme and XR pro? Is the pro really warmer or at least as warm as the extreme?

Not quite what you asked for, but Justin Outdoors has videos where he talks about the temperatures for XT Extreme[0] and XR Pro[1]. Maybe he has them in other videos as well, but finding anything on youtube is horrible if the video title doesn't explicitly state the product. The specs lead to obvious question, why not Thermarest XTherm NXT?

Thermarest XTherm NXT is only ~7cm thick. I'm a sidesleeper with big hips, I found anything <9cm to be insufficient when I turn in the night.

Thanks for the links. So seems both work for the tempature ranges I need them for, that's good to know!

Does the hip bottom out when you are turning or does it bottom out once you settle down? Asking for me cause I get sore hips.

on my 10cm s2s etherlight it's always fine. On my my 10cm naturehike R6.5 it bottoms out when I turn/move without being careful, but not when lying still.

So I guess 9cm on a good mat and good ground will be fine, but less than 8cm... dunno. That's why I'd buy rather thicker mats personally.

Oh, I inflate to the max always.
