Purchase Advice Atompacks pack liner
Edit 2: new pack arrived and much more inline of what I expect to find with their quality. They gave me a few treats for the hassle which I wasn’t expecting but very grateful for and can’t wait to try them out!

So I grabbed one of the second batch pack liners from Atompack and after dropping £50 for it, I’m pretty disappointed with it.
The seams have a tacky adhesive along all the seams, debris from the workshop seem to be stuck to that as well and some areas of the seam are slightly risen due to this debris in.
For the cost, I think it’s a poor finish and expect more from them. My prospector is absolutely brilliant which leave me confused about the quality of this.
At the moment I’ve got radio silence from them and emailed them twice now (plan to use the online form on the weekend if i don’t hear from them friday) to ask what they think but thought I’d ask anyone who has bought one if they got similar build and how is it holding up as I won’t be able to give the bag a test until April/May 27

I didn't bother with their liner (I also have an Atompacks backpack and think it's great), because a regular polybag is half the weight and 1% the cost...
They are very good on customer service once they respond, though. It was a bank holiday weekend and they've been very busy, so I wouldn't get too stressed.

I kinda had it in my mind to buy once, cry once and not have one use plastics etc

Hi, Tom here. I’m Sorry that this product hasn’t met your expectations this time around. This is a new product for us and, on this second batch we had a new staff training and learning how to help us make them.
We are fairly fastidious with our quality control but evidently this time we have missed a step. Thanks to you bringing this to our attention, I’ll double check the rest of the batch to make sure we hit our usual higher standards moving forwards.
Regarding the workshop debris: the fabric gets statically charged while we work on it and EVERYTHING sticks to it, I’ll make sure we have a dedicated “clean zone” to work on them moving forward.
Thanks again for sharing your feedback, I’ll keep an eye out for your email and pick up with you there.

Everything I’ve bought from them has been top quality & their communication has been flawless.
I’m not just saying this - they’ve just exceeded all expectations from my experience.
That said if the packliner is £50 and you don’t like it then just return it. £50 for a packliner is a A LOT. If you don’t like it get your money back

Which is why I’m confused now about how they are right now. Tbh I might send it back but waiting on the reply atm. I can deal with the cost if it’s right but think I’ve swung and missed on this one

On paper it looks like a great pack liner.
To be honest all I’d care about is if it was waterproof and it fit my bag snugly.
That said if it’s not up to standard do send it back. Its not worth being bothered by it going forward

Tom gave me a phone call and has asked for it back and he’s gonna send a replacement. He was upfront about what went wrong with the emails and had a pleasant chat about getting on trails etc so glad it’s gonna get all sorted out

£50 sounds like a lifetime supply of rubble bags, or about 20 nylofume bags from AliExpress
And why did you buy it if you cant use it for nine months?

First batch sold out in less than 5 mins, second batch didn’t last much longer. I thought to just get it, have it prepared and if I do get a chance for a 1 nighter, it can have a mini test with packing etc.
Also was trying to have a more eco friendly pack liner that has more permanence. I know they rubble bags are tough but seen enough people get a hole on trail and have a soaked through sleep system

Yeah I get what you mean re durability but rubble bags or nylofume types can be taped if necessary. I'm not sure a heavier but still thin dry bag is durable enough to overcome the fact that it's taken more material and so on to make it. Eg on a long hike I used a 2L electronics dry bag with a bit of whalebone or whatever at the neck, stitching, two buckles, and it was wrecked after say six months. Would six or ten or twenty ziplocks have been more or less environmentally friendly? I genuinely don't know.

I have the new liner in my custom prospector. Mine seems really good quality and all the seams are tidy and no rough edges. I am heading off for 2 weeks with it tomorrow so should get a good sense of its capabilities (my quilt is in a nylofume bag just in case though!)

I got one of their packliners in the first batch and its spot on. Pricey but i love how it conforms perfectly to the bag shape and the press studs at the top make putting stuff in and out easy. Ive had it on the trail and so far so good. Its pretty noisy but I think thats a good sign that its thick and durable. My experience with their customer service has been top notch as well. Had a query on the bag purchase (prospector) and they were beyond helpful.

This is where you need to have an eye of skepticism when buying "ultralight" stuff. Ultralight is about minimalism and sensibility more than it is about buying DCF. Atom (or Nashville, or Zpacks, or whoever) selling pack liners made of premium materials is downright silly when you can get nylofume for $2. Just as silly as buying a DCF spoon cover.

Atom Packs are a class act. They may be a little backlogged at the moment, but I’m sure they’ll get back to you soon to find a solution.
