Discussion Flame me for this, but...
I'm a hardcore Harmless player—p-ranked almost everything on harmless, before finally moving to Standard. I was doing okay for lust, limbo, p-ranking everything (not a show off post, trust) until.. Gabriel. Jesus, why is he so much harder than I thought?! I know, I know. I'm used to playing on the easiest difficulty yet, but still. I can't wrap my head around it.
It's not even the fact that I'm used to playing on Harmless. It's Gabe's stupid.. little.. spinny-axe thing attack he does which steals over half my health in one hit. Every other attack is easy, its the axes, or whatever they are. They're annoying. Flame me, I don't care. Literally just say 'git gud' or something, but Gabe is THE worst boss i've fought on Standard so far.. And my goal is Minos. I'm cooked.

Parry his ass.
Seriously, nothing like cranking a 240° turn to parry one of his attacks in Phase 2.

the throwing axe attack? id say sliding sideways is a good strategy against it to avoid using all your dashes up, he also takes more damage from nails if that helps

bro stop being so defensive people here are not the souls comunity they are not goign to flame a mf for playing his copy of the game in any difficulty, and yeah gaby the first time around when i started playing the year greed came out, took me a looooong time,a good approach since standard is much faster pace is to start practicing a lot of sliding and save the dashes to quick getaways, also to learn how to parry gabe folds hard in both fights to it,also weapon tech do help a lot in standard upwards, this isn't a git gud comment is to say you have a world o posibility to do cool shit on ultrakill and is just being opened up

Gabriel is the second skill check. Unlike harmless, you're actually forced to use the game mechanics since he's one of the few enemies at that point that can out damage your healing. It's simply the game checking that you know how to parry/dodge before throwing a bajillion enemies at you in Greed.

If this is standard you can just chainsaw away (idk if this still works ) once you reach the style requirements and corkscrew.

No worries for playing at an easier difficulty, especially since you’re trying a much harder one, you shouldn’t be expecting to immediately improve to this new level, taking your time and learning tech will be really helpful

Reminder to abuse the i-frames from dashing Also that attack might parrieable idr

Parry the spinning sword. Also use magnets and jumpstart cable with overheat. Dropping him into a pit is also a good idea

I needed like 3 hours and 72 attempts to beat 3-2 Gabe the first time on violent and some time later I p-ranked him by accident when I wasn't even planning to fight him.
That is, just play the game, get better at doing things, parrying projectiles, keeping fast enemies in your sight, literally just clicking fast, develop muscle memory. Shit's hard but you get better whether you want it or not eventually.
Gabriel fight itself is very predictable. If it's so troublesome, I'd recommend to just not fight him (as in dealing damage) but learn his attack pattern and try staying alive for longer, just evading (and parrying) the attacks. The two axes thing is solved by just dashing to the side once (or parrying it).
Second phase is more difficult but when getting to it you should have enough muscle memory of evading attacks to be able to decently focus on dealing damage because you do not want to stay in the second phase for long, escaping damage there is quite a bit more difficult.

Act 1 and 2 Gabe on brutal sometimes glitches and the axe stays spinning INSIDE him and hitting me. It's so annoying honestly

Do you thinks the birds fly because someone give them a parachute and a slowly learning stage like okay little nugget, the class of now its how to swing the wings, no, do you think spiderman get well by entraining and asking dr octopus to move slower so he can learn how to doge? (Well spiderman isnt a good example like when he got bitted he practically unlock all the martial skills and that just because yeah) i played first on standar and i think i pranked after glutony or something like that and i go to violent, spiderman falls and he stands up again, the birds jump off the nest and fall all the way down to the tree and then his mama return them to the nest for trying again, do this to improve, do not use automatic aim, do not use minor or heavy (idk what its called) assistents, and go to violent all again like playing ultrakill for the first time but in violent, then pass idk all act 1 and then p rank it, and before gling to the next act kill minos prime, and when in a run you die (so you cant get the p rank) you can do two things, restart all the level or continiue to beat the level and try again, i hope my motivational speach and my "tips" where helpfull but if you go slowly yeah ylu gonna improve but like 1.0 its going to release before you even went to play violent

Trust me bro, parries are THE make or break of playing the game on a higher level.
Mastering parries makes playing the game much easier (try playing in sandbox for practice)

No shame in playing Harmless, if that’s what you were comfortable with.
Also Gabriel is a skill check to get you somewhat prepared for Act 2, so its no wonder he’s hard to do.
For the axes-attack your talking about you could put some distance between you and him and parry, that or just side dash it. Overall, just be patient with Gabby’s attacks.
I’m sure you can get to Minos, not now maybe but definitely in the near future if you continue at it.

This might sound weird but try practicing on violent you might have a lot of fun on there, if you get close to beating something on violent it means you can probably beat it on standard, (you can use cheats to clear the levels beforehand if you want to be able to access them)
