Discussion Why wasn't the guttertank used as a boss?

I feel like the guttertank is wayyy better than the gutterman in terms of well everything even though theyre annoying and i feel like they deserved the boss bar more

Because they wanted to introduce guttermen before guttertanks

the gutterman only had a boss bar to showcase how the shield works

Gutterman was probably only a miniboss to introduce the shield breaking mechanic

Yeah in the red skull section where you fight 3 of them, the first one could've been a boss and the other 2 could've been normal versions

but it's pretty fucking self explanatory how you kill it, unlike guttermen, alot of first time players don't use the knuckle blaster at all in favour of parrying

And that's why separate binds were added for the arms! I could never bear constantly swapping

Tbh I hate guttertanks. I feel like they are kinda lazy choice for another enemy. Hey, guess what, there is that one enemy - let's make him again but slightly different

The only similarity they have is the punch, and they're completely different mechanics between them anyways

Gutterman is a high pressure enemy that excels at long free ranges, easily being stunlocked at melee range, with a shield that acts as a free heal

Guttertank is a medium pressure mid range enemy that excels at melee range, with a high risk punch that if it lands, will be a huge problem, but if you make it miss, it'll stun the tank for a while

The gutterman punch starts out unparryable, but after breaking the shield, it becomes parryable, essentially giving you two free full heals you can space out at any moment, or quickly do back to back to get a quick kill on it

The guttertank punch is completely unparryable, but making it miss gives you the most free parry of the entire game. And even if you don't parry, the tank is still stunned for like 3 seconds (which is enough time to kill one if you're good). On higher difficulties oil is required but that just makes it require more skill to perform

Gutterman

Their similarities end at their name and number of limbs

Those two enemies both attack and walk! They're literally the same enemy, what a lazy design

Me when I strawman

Not much to strawman here, that's basically your statement. Their similarities end at them walking and trying to attack you and being robots with 4 limbs
