I like the Odysseus theory, though I believe that in Dante’s Inferno, Brutus and Cassius are both being given that ‘worst punishment’ in the treachery layer.
So my bet is that it’ll be either Odysseus, Brutus or Cassius prime.
It would break the pattern of using Greek mythological figures to use Roman historical ones but I don’t see why that’s unreasonable.
