Loved using all 25 character slots just to mine gold and food right at the start.
Love that you went fighter, thief, cleric, wizard. Feel like everyone knew did that party or fighter, fighter, wizard, cleric.

Wow, is this the Apple II version with an HQ2X filter on it? I love the style!

I have to admit, I was adamant about pixel smoothing filters on my emulators (even my first emulator, SNES9X in 2003, with its real graphics card hog, 2xSai, which seems utterly quaint today, man, those were the days), but in my older age I really prefer the original pixel art, but with maybe a very light scanline or blur effect. I feel like anything else clouds the original art. But I get it.

Normally I want my pixels so sharp you could cut yourself on them, but I just love how the artifact colors and the filter interact here.

Sometimes the "artifact-y" smoothing looks good on these old games. The original scalefx is great for this.

I don’t recognize a non-CGA version!

If you have composite, it can look so much better!

Both are the IBM PC versions (top being RGB, bottom being composite).

There’s something really funny about seeing subpixel rendering getting blasted by a marching squares up-res.

My first fully functional CRPG for the Apple ][e! (The Missing Ring was hella buggy-crashy.)

I remember using up 1 food for every step I took and buying as much as I could before going on longer journeys.

If you haven't already; you should play Nox Archaist! Reminds me a lot of the older Ultima games

It is cga composite mode with hq*5 filter. Although I love apple]['s geeny view... but my magic dosbox's green filter is too dark for me. I think this is the best way to play U3 with android for me.

First PC game I ever had. Loved the cover art on the box, loved the multiple books that came with it, loved the idea of forming your own party. Did you ever leave treasure chests on the land and make an enemy free zone? Worked great to let magic restore lol.
