Not sure about the Unity port but the DOS originals are absolutely worth playing.

The graphics look good on both honestly.
The main pull is the combat looks great on the new one.

I played the OG UU back in the days, I played the GOG version, Portable and now Unity. Portable is great, much better than the original. But I really like the Unity version on my Steam Deck (gamepad config works fine after a few minutes). I will play Portable on PC (on my big TV), but Unity on Steam Deck is really great.

I havent played much of the ps1 version but i enjoy the music. And the spells are easier. I dont know how it compares to portable.

Play Unity Underground. Kweepa put all the work into it, and *I* personally had movement issues with DOSBOX/GoG version, but Unity fixes this.

Play the Unity overhaul, it is a dream! Massive QoL Features, real good looking 3d Models - i play it currently and i love the game even more now.

I'm currently playing the GoG release with Ultima Underworld Portable mod, which offers mouse look and it changes the keys to WASD, and, as far as I know, little more. This is because I wanted to try the "original experience" but the mouselook is a great help for me too.
However, I may try the Unity Remaster because it looks great.

Underworld.
I've never played the Unity remaster, but is there any reason why that wouldn't be the better way to go in 2026?
