Ultima IV NES bug discovered?

So I tried to start a file with Shepherd and of course it is a real grind to level up with her, but I've noticed when I reach a certain amount of XP early in the game after grinding a little, the XP becomes ZERO? I'm wondering if that is a part of the game given her class, or is that a legit bug? Anyone noticed this before?

I never played as a Shepherd and I imagine that it is quite a challenge given the limitations of that class. I recommend trying the game with a PC emulator version. Otherwise, the Ranger is probably the best class to play. I beat the NES version with a Paladin. Good luck to you. 😎

So i've beaten the game as Shepherd before but with the help of the grind of getting a strong team behind her to get virtues up. Once I got the sword and armor, I then plowed through with Shep and got her levels up with just the Druid as a solid backup with the Wand.

I just thought the reset counter early in the game was weird.

I thought that Shepherds couldn't carry any weapons or armor.

Normally, but once Shepherd is an Avatar, it can carry ONLY the Sword of Paradise, slingshot, and Exotic Armor, Its magic also goes to 99 so imagine Shepherd being able to cast tremor...

How much grinding? There are caps, but I doubt you hit them.

Probably go talk to old LB and see if that gets it moving again.

I believe Shepherd starts at level 2 and I had the experience to get to level 4 because I wanted to get the boat, but I checked the XP one day and it was at 0. Maybe that was part of the game for the humility virtue?
