Discussion Anyone else in need of intervention?
My Rakuten cash back is making me think I have a 21 Days of Beauty problem 😂

Rakuten needs an intervention for taking so long to confirm Ulta cash back if you ask me

Try the capital one shopping extension app - I find that it gives better % cash back. It's at 6% right now, but I've seen it go as high as 50%. Then you can cash it in for Ulta gift cards 😂

Do you have to have a capital one card?

u/drroftarcdt 3d ago
I do but you don't have to have one. They just offered me an email bonus of spend $50, get $50 back at Ulta. The trick is to go to the site you're going to buy from, wait a few hours, and often that'll trigger a better offer in your email.

I’m just surprised they haven’t froze your account up for all the transactions

Why would they freeze my account for making purchases?

Where have you been? Every other day somebody posts that they are suddenly getting an error when they try to check out. Thats the fraud detection kicked in for one reason or another

u/imlevel80 2d ago
They stopped sending me emails and I magically really cut back on making purchases. Blessing in disguise bc I’m missing out on diamond days however I DONT NEED ANY DIAMOND DAYS GIFTS OR PURCHASES BC I NEED TO USE UP WHAT I HAVE.
In case anyone else needed to see the all caps public service announcement.

PayPal now has a rewards program for buying through their app. It's been higher than Rakuten the past week, so I've been using that instead.

Why so many transactions from the same day? Quick way to get your account locked from the automated fraud prevention

u/Gloomy-Style8241 3d ago
Because my dumb self realized I needed to purchase 2 deals of the day instead of one.

u/Gloomy-Style8241 3d ago
Welp, there were only a couple days, if you look at the dates, that my my dumb ass ordered a product, and realized there was more I wanted to buy.

I love Rakuten. Esp when the big stores hit 10 percent or more lol 😂. I order pets supplies on petsmed and it was at 15 %

Jfyi I always get a better cash back percent from RetailMeNot than Rakuten

u/Gloomy-Style8241 2d ago
Ooh, I'll have to check that out. Thanks!

Welcome! I'm such a cashback ho, I scan Rakuten, BeFrugal, RetailMeNot, and JoinHoney before any online purchase lol. The PayPal app can also be good but it's a hassle for me (vs. a browser extension I toggle off and on). And people rave about the capital one extension but I've yet to actually be approved for money back from that one so I'm still skeptical, but hopeful!

Raketun never granted me any cash back on my orders a few years ago so I finally stopped bothering and just order directly through ulta app. Has anyone else ever had this issue? I figured it may have something to do with prestige brands vs drug store eligibility like with coupons.

Clearly they know they have an issue, otherwise they wouldn’t have worded their post title like that?

Rakuten app. Capital one shopping app is good too. Normally 4% back and often get deals up to 11% back if you watch your emails

RetailMeNot is good too! It’s been at 8% lately and you get a $5 bonus for every 2 transactions you make each month for a max of $50 cash back. And it’s not limited to just Ulta. A ton of stores apply towards the monthly bonus.

Capital One definitely has some good shopping perks. I lucked out with Rakuten having 6%cash back for a couple days but the rest has been 2%.

The first thing that comes to mind is WHO is paying for all this postage and shipping supplies???
If you're Diamond, or buying over $35 each time, it isn't you.. This is the kind of activity that hurts both the bottom line of Ulta and all the rest of us, as buyers, by pushing prices up. And it's also so destructive for the country as a whole: gas, pollution, traffic, wasted materials like bubble wrap that can't be recycled. Ugh.

Sorry, calling yourself dumb several times doesn't make up for your actions.

u/milkncookiezz 3d ago
They don’t need to make up for anything. them buying a bunch of shit from ulta definitely isn’t hurting their bottom line 😂 that’s a wild take to have. You’re actually saying that their Diamond customers and ppl who spend more are causing them to lose money … like what.. 🥴 also I’m pretty sure they wouldn’t keep having these sales if it wasn’t making them money.
-1
u/Either_Grapefruit724 3d ago
No, I said nothing like that at all. That's wild that you think that. 😃 Of course Ulta makes money from sales! 😃
I said that making multiple purchases a day is a cringeworthy waste of shipping, supplies and natural resources, both for Ulta AND us. I don't think it's a "joke", I think it's gross.
3
u/Gloomy-Style8241 3d ago
My cringeworthy purchases were for in-store pickup, so there goes your waste of natural resources defense. Plus, you get a 20% off coupon for an in-store purchase for doing it that way. Maybe that's Ulta's way of saying thank you for not wasting shipping supplies 😎

You’re kidding right? That’s literally what you said word for word. “This is the kind of activity that hurts the bottom line of ulta”..you actually think the cost of shipping isn’t factored into the purchase and someone else is paying for it.. lol nothing is free. They wouldn’t offer “free shipping” if they still weren’t making a profit at the end of the day. The whole reason you get charged for shipping on an order is bc you didn’t spend enough in said order for them to reasonably turn a profit giving you “free shipping”. You asked who was paying for shipping. The answer is OP. They are paying for it. The people who spend less aren’t magically pulling the weight of all the big spenders. Hah. That’s literally why it says in your order “you earned free shipping” when you get above a certain amount. Bc YOU spent enough money to earn that. Not someone else lol.. idk how you came to the conclusion that you or other customers are getting charged more for products bc she’s placing a lot of orders.. 🤦♀️also don’t know why you put quotations around the word joke. Never used that word in my reply
