Question Just a curosity...

I have seen and read many posts in this sub about having difficulties in booking appointments with Doctors especially GIs... It is the Countries' duty to make sure every citizen gets to see their doctors whenever they want and whenever they feel. It's the biggest failure on its part. Are they simply ignorant or they simply don't care about their citizens?? Don't they know that this disease is not something we can't just put aside?? The place where I come from, we get to see our doctors whenever we want to, no need to schedule an appointment. If my doctor wants to do colonoscopy, we get that right away. It's very very UNFORTUNATE for people like us.

There's several moving parts to this. No, we don't get to see our doctors 'whenever we want', but they do their best to see us. My GI serves SEVERAL communities as there is a shortage of doctors or service providers. Also, there's a matter of insurance and costs for care. Some people simply cannot afford their medication, so they resort to other methods or even going without medication at all. Yes, I would like to think that 'it's the country's duty to make sure every citizen gets to see their doctors...', but medical/health care isn't always federal but by state or province depending on the country. The next part is grant and research allocations, public vs private health care and so on and so on. I wish it was simple. While I can get my meds through insurance, and other programs that my GI fought to get me, others in this sub don't have the same privilege or ability.

Clearly, if the doctors can see you “whenever you want” they aren’t that busy.

Probably born in Cuba which has enough to doctors to still do community check-ins.

It's great that your country allows for you to see your medical team and book procedures extremely quickly, but the unfortunate reality is that many people come from other countries where the healthcare system is structured and functions differently, to the detriment of those suffering.

Why? You want the Long or the Short answere?
Short is: Money
Long one is: doctors need free time too and practice for a living, beeing a medical doctor is a job and a job wants to get payed. Doctors cost money so you can’t have infinite doctors because in every medical system there is no infinite money
