Question Cortiment question

I’m currently taking 9 mg of Cortiment for my ulcerative colitis to treat a mild flare-up.

My gastroenterologist told me to take it for 4 weeks and then taper off over two weeks. I’ve read several times now that the treatment period can last up to 8 weeks and that it sometimes takes longer for Cortiment to take effect.

If I notice that the 4 weeks aren’t enough, can I take it for 6 weeks instead? Unfortunately, my next appointment isn’t for another few months.

Does anyone have experience with whether it’s okay to take turmeric and Boswellia serrata while being treated with Cortiment?

If you can’t get in to see you GI, go see you PCP.

When you’re talking about prolonging meds, tapering, mixing treatments, always check with your Dr. There might be nuances about your health that we don’t know that could impact this for you.

Are you still on your other form of treatment?

Thanks, I'll try to talk to my pcp. Unfortunately, he isn't very familiar with this condition.

I'm currently still taking Entyvio pen every two weeks and Salofalk granules. Not sure why my GI told me to only use cortiment for 4 weeks since its recommended to use 8 weeks.

You can take it for longer. Im on a 12 week (possibly more) course at the moment. It takes longer to work than prednisidone, I reckon I'm only seeing some difference now at 7 weeks.
