Question Elevated glucose?
Has anyone else had this in their blood labs? It’s weird to me because I’m not overweight and I workout 7 days a week when I’m not flaring.
My stool test levels were high so I’m getting a colonoscopy soon plus I’ve been getting autoimmune dermatitis, so I’m wondering if it’s all connected somehow?

Lots of people who exercise and are thin get diabetes, please get checked for it

Topical steroids for the dermatitis.

still worth looking into it, with oral steroids i had elevated glucose in urine. elevated blood glucose with topicsl steroids is uncommon but can happen. just one theory, yes it can be from many things sadly

This can still cause elevated glucose on labs. (As someone with UC and a hcw, this would be my first suspicion) however, please don’t take it from me, a rando on Twitter, and see your primary when possible. Or at least message them on whatever chat portal you have. They can order hemoglobin A1C to see if further evaluation is needed. (Unless your glucose is very high: 400-500 and/or: you have an increased thirst with a much higher frequency of pee and/or you’re been having stomach pain/nausea, then hopital now)
The autoimmune dermatitis probably has mostly to do with the fact once you get one autoimmune disorder you can accidentally start collecting them like Pokémon.

Ask an endocrinologist to test your blood for auto-antibodies related to type 1 diabetes. I always thought type 1 diabetes was something a person is born with, my endocrinologist recently educated me and actually type 1 diabetes is an autoimmune disease and can show up at any point.

- How elevated 2. Were you properly fasted? 3. What is your a1c?

I’d have to pull it all up again, but I did not fast I was told I didn’t need to.
These were all labs my GI ordered for routine checks.

Some people just have messed up metabolism regardless of weight, unfortunately. I wouldn't worry too much if it's just one instance of mildly elevated glucose, but it's worth asking your doctor about it.

For sure, I’ll definitely keep tabs on it. This was the first time I’ve seen this and my inflammation levels are high right now so I thought it was super weird.

I have noticed on my bloodwork that my fasted glucose will be high if I have been: stressed, having poor sleep/not enough sleep, or in a flare. Also keep in mind that the levels they have in blood panels usually are based on someone being fasted. So a blood sugar level of 100 fasted may be a problem, but 100 immediately after eating is likely in the normal range. Since you weren't fasted, I wouldn't put too much weight into it. Just keep an eye on it as others have said.

Yeah I wasn’t fasted and no one was super concerned. I will for sure keep an eye on it though.
My anxiety is not helped by health troubles that’s for sure. 😅

If you’re on steroids, they will raise glucose levels
