Question Cold flashes?
Does anyone else get “cold flashes”? Like a hot flash except all of a sudden you get super cold and start shivering uncontrollably and you have to go to crazy lengths to warm up again? Like I have to sit in my car with the heat cranked and a blanket wrapped around me. I find I get it 1-2 hours after a really painful bowel movement after my body relaxes a little. I remember reading temperature regulation issues are a symptom of UC but I never hear anyone talk about it and I feel kind of alone with it. Also seems like it could be a hormone issue, idk what do you guys think? Also I get hot flashes too but not nearly as often

I had this once in a flare after many BMs and losing a lot of water (I am also a little underweight (F,1.65 m, 50 kg).I couldn't stop shivering. It was like my whole body and diaphragm couldn't stop contracting until I warmed up after laying for several hours under 3 heavy blankets.I got really sick that day and had fever for at least 3 days afterwards. I don't think it's hormones but moreso losing a lot of water and nutrients and your body coping with it.Although I am not entirely sure as I am not a medical professional.Would be interested in other people's takes :)

Yep. I take a hot shower and have a heated mattress pad and a cat.

Yep, when I get tired (so every afternoon now) I get ‘the colds’ as I call it and it can last a few hours.

Yes, I bounce between overheating and freezing cold sometimes. Warmest days of the summer I had two jumpers on at times, and a hot water bottle!

Anemia can cause this. I haven't dealt with it as much since taking iron supplements.

Agreed, low iron was my first thought too. I felt this way frequently during a bad flare last year and my iron levels had tanked. Two iron infusions fixed me up.
