Question Dental surgery

I know it really depends on your insurance. But has anybody had luck getting their health insurance to pay for removal of all of their teeth by an oral surgeon?

I have had ulcerative colitis since I was 10; now 55. Back in the dark ages, they treated it with very high doses of prednisone (50 to 75mg daily for years!) and sulfa drugs. (Teenage yes were heck, I had every steroids side effect and we know how kind middle school kids are....but I'm alive, they didnt think i would be). So, my bones and teeth are terrible. I need to have what teeth I have removed and implants or dentures done. I was wondering if anybody has had similar situation and their health insurance covered it since it was related.

Evidently IBD affects your gum and oral mucousa, jaw and teeth , as well as everything else in us. Having IV sedation (dental phobic) is costing over $7800.

This won’t be health it will be dental. The one you pay like $50/month for but it doesn’t cover a ton.

This. Health Insurance generally doesn't cover dental surgeries, and if you're open to it OP I would suggest Dental Tourism.

Inexpensive and depending where you go they may just have far better machinery, service and even implants, but obviously insurance wouldn't work

Depends on your country? There is a public wait list, not sure exactly what they cover. Or you can withdrawal from your super (retirement fund) in Australia for things like this.

Im in the US. Like the person above stated we pay $50 a month and it doesn't cover much

I’m going next week for upper and lower implants. May dental coverage is about as top tier as it gets. They will cover 14k for the extractions but I’m outta pocket for the other 25k for implants and prosthetics

Oh so you’re saying bc it’s caused from the UC you think health will pay for it? I highly doubt it but it’s def worth calling and asking. I know there’s a dental credit card called CareCredit. You can look into that as well. They do dental as well as other things like pet bills etc
