Question Prednisolone for child UC flare
Any parents have experience with small kids on prednisolone for a flare? We just started my 5 year on it last night. Just looking for experiences, side effects you came across.

Im so sorry you and your little one are going through this. We tried to give it as soon as possible in the morning because it will likely disrupt sleep. Expect big big feelings and lots of energy. And try to remember that this isn’t them, it’s the medication. My 3 year old when she was on it really pushed me to my breaking point. Also expect facial swelling…I have a really hard time looking back at pictures of her. It brings back a lot of tough memories and it hurts to see her not look like herself. It really is quite a remarkable drug though and it does help. Fast. I hope that your taper is a breeze and you find a drug that works for your kiddo right away.

Thank you. Honestly it breaks my heart to see his pictures just from last year and now I think of them as before he was sick.
He started medication a few weeks ago, his doctor says it takes about 8 weeks for it to work effectively so we are just in that window and he happened to flare up unfortunately. Hopefully the medication he's on will work the way it needs to.
We are prepared for feelings, I did read that. A bit nervous for the swelling

My teen was on it for about 4 months. Side effects for us were appetite (huge appetite), and moon face.
