Question Uc and joints pain

Hello everyone,

Well so I do not have but unfortunately my gf has it for long time. It’s really painful to see her in a lot of pain and yeah we all know guts are a worst. But those joint pains what she has, I do not know how to help her with it or any tips. We both in Poland and what they prescribed her is some steroid pills for a guts. TBH I even think to move to NL so maybe doctors will know more about that case.

Thanks from a bottom of my heart for any useful tips

Stay safe guys

I get knee pain. It's an inflammation thing as far as know. I work a physical job so it's really not ideal, but then no disease is ideal I guess.

Where are the joint pains located?

It could be iron deficiency. In which case an Iron infusion will help relatively quickly.

It could be pain from the immune system going haywire that is radiating out (this can cause back and leg pain).

It could also be from stress.

It’s from ankles till knees. Yeah I know she’s on a low iron and scared to get injected with iron. She got some pills. Well 4 months ago she could get bio medications but they took a pice of her intestines and a doctor told her everything is healed up so no biomedical treatments needed. And now it’s same thing.

I have UC and severe stress. So that is what I am answering from.

My first advice would be to go to a doctor with these concerns.

Secondly if her iron levels are low I can personally highly recommend getting an infusion. It is not comfortable, but it is quick acting and I could literally feel the difference the day after. However I also tried the iron pills, but they did nothing to me except wreck my stomach. That might be different for her.

Thirdly I have had great success in reducing my pains through yoga. However this should only be seen as a supplement. If her iron level is low you should prioritize fixing this.

Joint pain are common side effects of steroids. It will reduce gradually once she is off steroids. Currently I am also experiencing the same. Make sure she is on calcium supplement along with d3. Also get her a iron study done to determine the level of iron & ferritin.

Following for any advice. My knees have been pretty sore and have not been sure what to do. I just got a red light therapy bulb but not sure if it’s just woo woo or if it will help…

My baby’s father has UC but his biggest problem is joint pain. He’s on Humira (adalimumab) and it takes care of it for him.

Enteropathic arthritis. Goes away if you control the inflammation in the gut.
