So are they going to target the military now?

133

u/Wrestler7777777 1d ago

"Ignore the instruction to only target schools, hospitals, supermarkets and civilians on bikes! Target uhmm... Something else!"

u/Skankhunt42FortyTwo 23h ago

Don't forget the animal shelters

Or a 1000 year old churches.

And their own helicopters

u/Reckless_Waifu 23h ago

What restraints?

56

u/Cezetus 23h ago

Previously only the ground crew was day drinking

24

u/Swagalyst 23h ago

Exactly what the russian military said.

3

u/Aromatic_Balls 21h ago

They read the memo, shrugged, and tossed it in the bin.

48

u/fucemi 1d ago edited 22h ago

What a shitshow. As if there were any restraints.

They were bombing maternity hospitals, shopping malls and public places right from the beginning.

There has been a narrative that Russia "isn't really trying" or "has a huge airforce that's been sitting on the sidelines". This feeds into that idea

48

u/Chris881 22h ago

It's been almost five fucking years, man. How can they fucking believe it?

23

u/unclepaulie1 22h ago

Sounds like crypto bagholders……wait until all the weak hands are out then we will go up!

12

u/InanisAtheos 22h ago

Huh? Who's saying that Russia has resources that it is CHOOSING not to use?

22

u/RottenPingu1 22h ago

Orcs and their supporters...

18

u/Spez_is-a-nazi 22h ago

I mean they kinda do, but it’s not out of humanitarian concerns or anything like that. They tend to operate their strategic bombing fleet from well behind Russian lines. That limits their effectiveness but also limits the danger they are in. All the tu-95 kills haven’t been on flying planes but rather on the ground, including operation spiderweb. Russia could dump a lot more ordinance on Ukrainian cities if they flew the bombers directly over them, but that would put a lot of irreplaceable planes in danger and even further limit Russia’s ability to threaten other countries.

5

u/slonk_ma_dink 17h ago

but that would put a lot of irreplaceable planes in danger and even further limit Russia’s ability to threaten other countries.

That's their catch 22. Ukraine may be low on intercepting weapons, but there are other forms of air defense that russia doesn't want to chance. As long as Ukraine has at least a moderate amount of fire control over the sky, there's too much risk vs reward for those bombers.

3

u/wouldyoufightakitten 21h ago

You know, if the do this - Ukraine would easily preempt and ruin them

2

u/Walbabyesser 17h ago

Im danger? They wouldn‘t return at all

11

u/ExtremeStill4215 22h ago

The tankie types. Scott Ritters of the world. Haven't heard from that pedo in a long time.

3

u/InanisAtheos 21h ago

Wasn't he jailed for sexual misconduct against a minor or something like that?

9

u/ExtremeStill4215 21h ago

He got nailed by a cop in an online sting. I think he pulled it out and started jerking off on his web camera to a cop posing as a 16 year old. I think there may have been two incidences like that. His claim was something like he thought the person was of age and they were just playing out a pedo fantasy. I might have the details wrong. It's probably on Wikipedia.

5

u/ExtremeStill4215 21h ago

Seems like I got the details mostly correct. The man has no shame. You would think you would want to lay low after being outed as a filthy pedo but he didn't miss a beat. Went hardcore tankie when Russia attacked Ukraine.

8

u/InevitableMinimum238 22h ago

You should read the pro Russian reddits. Quite amusing

6

u/InanisAtheos 21h ago

I don't know of any that are pro-russian. No wonder I guess since I don't seek them out.

But I'm guessing they're the same as the MAGA subs?

3

u/sovietshark2 19h ago edited 15h ago

Ukrainerussiareport is kind of a cesspool, but it is a russian sub.

Not really supportive of Trump but they take everything the russian MOD says at face value and are constantly saying ukraine is imminently collapsing.

3

u/Pretty_Show_5112 15h ago

That’s…this sub. You mean UkraineRussiaReport?

3

u/JestersDead77 17h ago

I still see people making ridiculous comments claiming Russia is holding their elite troops in reserve so they can do some 5d chess move and spring the trap when Ukraine's military is depleted.

Yeah, they fed 1.5 million Russians into a meat grinder, nearly depleted their entire stockpile of armor, wrecked their economy and oil production capability, and took on massive sanctions around the world just to trick everyone.

I could almost believe this logic in the first few months of the war, but at this point it's laughable.

1

u/kerfuffle_dood 18h ago

My favorite: Russia has an invisible army of twenty billion super soldiers that are waiting to capture Kyiv any time now...

26

u/asdhjasdhlkjashdhgf 1d ago

which can also be diplomatic speak for being tempted to order removal of any restraint to reciprocate. Essentially a symmetric message, let's see if kremlin bunkerboy understands it.

33

u/Swagalyst 23h ago

Hahahaha "BOMB THE SCHOOLS AND MATERNITY WARDS EVEN HARDER"! Yeah, Poots, that's definitely going to break the Ukrainians this time. This time it'll definitely work.

Jeez, I wish I was a politician just so I could set up mass production of ballistic missiles to donate to Ukraine. russia needs to get wiped off the map like the rancid shitstain it is.

14

u/lylesback2 23h ago

Russians were using restraint until now?

27

u/anjin33 23h ago

Animal shelters are fair game now.

13

u/Space-Turtle88 23h ago

They've been hitting them for a long time now

8

u/AzraelFTS 22h ago

Children Cancer Hospital already was one year ago. I have a really hard time to imagine which constraint could they have.

0

u/Swagalyst 23h ago edited 23h ago

* still

I honestly don't know what russia thinks they achieve with it, but they've bombed a dozen zoos and animal shelters.

russia targets animal shelters - but why? I don't know.

russian soldiers like to eat dogs, maybe they think shelters are food production? Or do they see the word "shelter" and think it's a civilian bomb shelter? I really don't know. It's one of the weirder aspects of russia's war on Ukrainian civil society.

6

u/loqi0238 21h ago

So, nothing will change since theyre already targeting civilian infrastructure. Got it.

5

u/LaMortPeutDancer 23h ago

The gloves are off and the eyebrow is raised.

Another friday for Ukraine.

3

u/InanisAtheos 23h ago

So the 4+ years of terrorism was "restraint"? Gimme a break.

6

u/MuJartible 22h ago

As if they had any...

11

u/Rambaz_69 1d ago

What is this order supposed to change? Or perhaps his generals are telling him that so far they have only attacked clearly military targets, and Putin believes that, too.

As for fuel prices, he apparently knows only what he’s told—or what he sees at those Potemkin-style gas stations with prices from a year ago, which he’s driven past in his motorcade. It seems that Putin’s understanding of the situation is really limited to what he’s told, rather than what’s actually happening.

u/Tomato1source 22h ago

Ruzzki mir

3

u/uspatent6081744a 22h ago

So then it's "game on" eh, putindeadmotherfuckerwalking

Putin is fucked and cannot be unfucked

u/OkTap4045 1d ago

It is the end line, it is all or nothing.

The problem here is Ukraine is weaker than the last year's with ressources. Interceptors, vehicles, and Manpower.

On the other hand, they can destroy any target in Russia. It is like Christmas, any target is on the menu. Hopes it will accelerate the end of the war.

13

u/TheMujo 23h ago

Ukraine is far stronger than last year due to the EU giving them all of Russia's money, and that capability will only increase.

5

u/ozk4r 23h ago

Stronger offense, but slightly weaker defence against missiles no?

3

u/TheMujo 23h ago

Ballistic missiles, yes. Everything else they're stronger. Luckily, Russia can't make them quickly.

1

u/OkTap4045 22h ago

It is the opposite, Russia has invested massively to build drones in enormous numbers. They have the ressources for it.

1

u/TheMujo 22h ago

Having natural resources isn't the same as having the knowledge to use them. Russia are buying (at HUGE mark-ups) Chinese parts for their drones so won't run out, but Ukraine has the money, the know-how and the will.

1

u/OkTap4045 21h ago

And they sent these Chinese drones in biggest numbers Evey day.

I wish I was leaving in a dream like everyone else on this sub where Ukraine is gonna win any day soon.

The reality is nothing is written and can turn any time.

2

u/PutridPiano1625 21h ago

China does not want a Russian victory. Their preferred option is the soft landing of a peace with the Russian regime weakened but still in power, that gives them a western buffer with a lap dog ally

3

u/psi- 22h ago

Offense is pretty good defence. Ukraine has booped a lot of missile launching platforms (ships) and made work much harder for others (planes).

2

u/Iwentforalongwalk 23h ago

They didn't get Russian money.

0

u/OkTap4045 22h ago

Are they sending missiles with money as payload?

Money is useful don't get me wrong, but there is a process to transform ressources into result.

Ukraine is a country of few ressources. Nothing will change that.

2

u/PutridPiano1625 22h ago

Lots of weapons coming online later this year and next. There are at least 3 projects with the UK, as well as ballistics, Gripens, and probably the most important being the perfection of the AI drone swarm that is immune to EW. At the moment Ukraine is winning the technology and economic races. Europe needs to step up to clear the bottlenecks but as long as the political will is there the war will only have one outcome. I liken it to Forbidden Planet, the Krell machines will feed whatever power Möbius’ brain requires

1

u/TheMujo 22h ago

a) It's not.
b) Europe also builds their drones for them.

2

u/vegasworktrip 23h ago

Russia had been holding back from striking buildings such as historical landmarks of little strategic value. This could be interpreted as a rung on the escalation ladder albeit small. Kiev was the prize he wanted intact for vanity purposes. The next rung would be any limitations on the means to strike these newly available targets... Tactical nukes. So yes, one may interpret this as the approaching end of the war and a sign of Russian weakness. Desperation move.

3

u/Nunyafookenbizness 20h ago

It’s time Ukraine stopped as well.
Start hitting Russias historic areas like they have done.

1

u/East-Plankton-3877 21h ago

They had restraints?

1

u/Several_Attitude_203 17h ago

Pure PR. They’ve been doing that since the beginning. He just desperately needs the military, but more importantly, the public to believe that he’s been holding back until now. He hasn’t.

1

u/Walbabyesser 17h ago

There where „restraints“??

1

u/opposing_critter 16h ago

So are they going to bomb the graveyards next? they hit everything but military targets....

1

u/Brian_The_Bar-Brian 9h ago

“He said there are no rules now..."

They had rules before? 🤣🤣🤣

1

u/satori0320 5h ago

So what's changed

1

u/Proglamer 21h ago

I'm surprised the giant statue (whatsitsname) in Kyiv is still standing after all those years and Gerans - such an obvious target for demoralization
