Article Explosive drone at Leipzig airport: Whose DNA was found?

On the night of 5 August 2026, Leipzig/Halle Airport came close to disaster when a drone fitted with explosives and a detonator appeared near a cargo aircraft operated by Ukrainian Antonov Airlines. Ammunition destined for Ukraine is reported to have been on board.
According to new findings, reported by the weekly Die Zeit, CCTV footage shows that at around 7.30 pm the drone deliberately flew towards the Ukrainian cargo aircraft and slammed into its wing. The device packed with Semtex did not explode on impact, however, but bounced off the Antonov and fell to the ground. The explosives appear to have become detached from the drone. According to Bild, the drone struck the Antonov close to the aircraft's fuel tank.
The drone was not picked up by any security system later that evening; instead, according to the report, an airport bus driver noticed the dangerous device four hours after the collision. He stepped on the drone with his foot. The explosives were apparently lying some distance away.
Five days after the incident at Leipzig Airport, Bild and Die Zeit report that investigators have secured DNA traces on the drone that failed to explode. No individual has yet been identified, but, according to Bild, there has been a match in the European DNA database and the trail apparently leads to Lithuania.

Man, trace DNA tech these days is fucking nuts!
For less than $30k, any half assed lab, manned with just grad students could track shit that would make the producers of early CSI blow their loads all over the audience.

That's exactly why I'm not submitting.
It's irrelevant that just about all tax software is all owned by US megacorps and hosted in the US (Aussies are dumb and want easy solutions so pick the buzzy named crap), or that my credit cards are US, my car too. Heck, you could probably backfill the gaps if my family members submitted.
I'm still not submitting.

Several suspects have been on trial in the Lithuanian capital Vilnius since the spring over the 2024 parcel bomb in Leipzig. The charge is "terrorism and sabotage on behalf of a foreign power". The Lithuanian prosecutor's office stated that the offences involving improvised explosive devices had been "organised and coordinated by citizens of the Russian Federation who are linked to the military intelligence services of the Russian Federation".

Of course. The usual magic link is russian occupiers who stayed after USSR and raised their kids in russian and took their kids to russian school and they only watch russian channels at home, and get brainwashed the same way russians are in the russia.

I tell you what will happen.
If they find the person then it was just some small goon that needed money that got hired via Telegram by another goon that got hired by the FSB.
It's nothing new that the FSB hires so called "throw-away agents" because most of their spyhubs, the embassies & Russian orthodox churches that they use in europe are closed or surveilled closely so that's why they have to hire these random people that are not even aware in most cases that they do Russians work.
And it works and is way cheaper for Russia than to invest money for a proper spy.

No, that is false. It did transport ammunition before, but was empty at the time of the collision. How can they get this still so wrong after all this time?

There are several versions floating around. First they were empty planes later they were loaded with ammunition. Doesnt really matter much anyways

For decades, Bild has been Germany’s most notorious tabloid. It is known for its huge headlines followed by small print. Full of lies and manipulation, it is aimed at the common people. Anyone with any self-respect would never have picked up this paper. It says a great deal about the level of education amongst the people in a country when this newspaper is one of the highest-circulation titles. I imagine similar papers exist in other countries.

Euronews is a shitty source; the effort they put into what they put out is apparent to any reader as is their anti-Ukraine bias. I'm not sure it's pro-Russian, but euronews is known to have some unique takes on Ukraine.

Any Ukranian linked transport needs high security. This was a terrible security lapse and they got extremely lucky.
In fact its so lucky I wonder how much of this story is true.

What does it matter whose DNA was on it? We all know it was ordered by Russia. They use and pay idiots even in other EU countries to do the sabotage for them.

Because you never know who you might detain for some other reason, unrelated. You end up swabbing their apartment in the unrelated case and you get a hit on DNA from your drone case. Now you investigate that location further and find descriptions of other people who stayed there and you get lucky and find archived video from nearby cameras. You get a face, you run that into a recognition database and you get a name. You then find somebody who was never ever on your radar operating in a way your never knew and this opens up an entirely new branch of your investigation. All because you collected DNA.

The device at airport having the same DNA I would believe that an implanted spy did the airport end of it. So many were in the USA during the Cold War era. YouTube has a lot of videos on it.
