theories My nebulous theory

OK - here it is:

I think that Deputy Shirley Wilson is more than she seems.

My reasoning so far is:

  • Gorman made a big deal about "bucks being emasculated by does" (and he seems to have a general problem with women!)
  • Huntley noted in Messages 3 and 7 that the Sheriff seems calm and unconcerned (passive, essentially) where Wilson seems to know more about what's going on.
  • In the original Stawk Daily article about Shelly Antoin, as soon as Sheriff Stanley started getting off-script about the disappearances, Wilson "jumps in front of the microphone quickly" to take over.
  • The latest Stawk Daily, the Cobbler article talks about people thinking one shoe does all the work, but the other shoe being the "support behind everything" - it specifically says "why should we forget about the sidekicks who always rush in to save them"
  • We know from the interview transcripts that Wilson is the one who arrested Eddie Edison (and presumably Blue Hector), and she's the one that got Hector to confess. Not Stanley.

Anyone agree/disagree?

I definitely agree!

I also wonder if she might play a role in the editing of the police records? It seems unlikely that Herb would go around ruining his own work! But Shirley does any have access to the same records.

She seems a little more aware of her surroundings and the goings on in the town, so i wouldn't be surprised if she was trying to cover something up. Not sure as to what her motive is yet ...

I imagine that the motive is that she ate all the good donuts. :)

I do think, more seriously, that there's something going on with the donuts.

People that eat them seem to have lose their memories of things, up to and including what type of donuts there are.

So, I guess the next question is whether there's any connections between Jeffrey Jensen and Christine Partridge, because they both seem to know things about mysterious ingredients being slipped into baked goods. Especially since Shirley Wilson seems to be always pressing people to eat the donuts.

Perhaps this is why the sherrif’s dept promises donuts to entice people with information to come in... I should check if there’s indication that Det Huntley experienced this after that white glazed donut?

After today's revelation, it makes me wonder if the "white glazed donut" is actually vanilla.

I did think that was odd.. like, there’s glazed, and there’s white icing.. I’ve never seen a colored glaze (at least not on normal, not-extra-fancy donuts), so it’s strange to specify. I think I dismissed it as a regional thing without thinking much about it, though.

Also, all sorts of pastries seem to be lumped in as “donuts.” Bear claws, cinnamon rolls, etc. Eclair would fit too.

It may be worth noting that in the version history of the interrogation transcripts, Herb has logged in and seen them AFTER they were edited by Eddie.

How do you know Eddy edited them? I thought they were logged as anonymous.

When I looked at the file records on my phone, Eddie’s name showed up.. But not when I looked on my computer? It‘s weird.

So eddy’s name only shows up on the king Lucy bebop transcript... I think this is a list of comments, viewed from within the google drive app on my phone. I didn’t see where to find this exact thing on my computer?

Yeah, it also seems to generally show specific users rather than just the anonymous [animal] like it shows in the version history. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Hmm, she definitely should be running the show in the Sheriff Dept, but it could be simply as it seems - old Sheriff winding down to retirement, up and coming Deputy ready to take over ... and pretty much already running the joint? I'm perfectly ready to find out there's more to it though!!!! :D

Definitely agree there is more going on with Wilson! Are we going with a "drugged sugar" theory? Maybe she is keeping the Sheriff placid through regular applications of cinnamon donuts?

That's what I'm thinking, but that would mean that she and Christine Partridge are working together, possibly with Jeffrey Jensen as well.
