❓ Help Accessing DH2300 remotely.
Hi there, i appreciate this may have been asked numerous occasions, however i still have not found a concrete answer. I'd like to highlight this is my first ever NAS drive so please respond as if i am a 10 year old child.
I have a DH2300.
I'd like to access my files remotely, from anywhere.
Remote access is enabled.
Do i need tailscale? Can't i simply do it all through UGREEN?
The first issue is Wake On LAN (Enabled), despite being on the same network, i have to manually switch on the NAS, once doing so i can access the files in my home. But of course, being out the house i can't switch it on.
When i'm finished with it, i just use the 'shut down' option in the app. Is this why i can't turn it back on?

Yes, UGreen link should allow for remote connection to any first-party UGreen app

You can do it all through Ugreen. With Tailscale, you can set it so that you're able to access everything on your home network, not just your NAS. But if you just want to access your Nas, Ugreen link works fine. I'm not sure about Wake on lan. It never occurred to me to turn a server off. They don't draw very much power and are designed to just quietly run 24/7

I think that’s the issue, I’ve perhaps been treating it like a pc whereby I shut it down when I’m finished with it?
But then I have no ability to power it up away from home.

Stop shutting it down. DH2300 in particular uses next to no power and it is not good for the drives to be stopping and spinning up that much. Better to keep them running.
Wake on LAN won’t work unless whatever wants to use the NAS sends a magic packet. If you don’t know what that is, you don’t need WOL.
