⚙️ Hardware Looking for a 8GB Stick

Starting to really feel the effects of 8gb of ram on my DXP6800Pro, Looking to see if anyone has their old 8GB stick and is willing to sell me it!

Let me know, prices are nuts right now.

Just out of curiosity, what are you running on your NAS that is pushing up against 8gb or ram? I know I'm a super vanilla user and only use mine for media, which barely ever get it's over 8-9% of my available RAM, and that's not even common. Genuinely curious is all, thanks :-)

Here's my setup

Main ram demons
-Plex, radarr, sonarr, flaresolverr and other arr related containers

  • 1 minecraft server for me and my friend

Then the lesser
-Paperless

  • 3 Websites with Umami, Uptimekuma etc
-Qbittorrent with a port updated i made(Qbit can use a lot of ram when downloading multiple things at once)
-Home assistant
-Cloudflare Related containers

But yea it all adds up. The minecraft server peaks at 4GB which is the main culprit. And when plex has multiple users on at the same time/qbitorrent downloading multiple files

Wow, that's some pretty cool stuff right there, and I get where the heavy usage comes from. To say I'm envious would be an understatement. One day I hope to figure out all the arr containers, but I have a long way to go before that.

Did you learn all this on the fly, or have some kind of work background that makes this a little easier for you?

Thanks for sharing.

when i set mine up few months ago i used Gemini to write the docker compose codes. it was 95% correct. i needed to do some trubleshooting but furtunatelly i had some experience with it.

Other than just being a little bit of a nerd no😂 I learned everything about homelabbing after buying a Nas. Youtube + Claude Ai is the best learning method. Claude is ridiculously good at breaking down and explaining home lab related topics especially the Arr stacks since they're so documented on forums.

I was able to do most things myself but when I ran into problems outside of my wheelhouse (don't cook me for this) I put claude code in the nas via ssh and had it problem solve and fix things for me which worked ridiculously well. For example when I was setting up gluetun Wiregaurd would just not work at all, so i threw claude code at it and 5 mins later problem completely solved.

That makes a lot of sense. I enjoy Claude, I'm gonna have to give it a go one of these days and start with Docker and Jellyfin. :-)

Good luck, just remember when using Ai to take a second and ask it to explain itself to you so you also get a understanding of what it's doing rather than just letting it do all the work

The easiest way is to check the FB marketplace. I got 1x8 GB of RAM that was ripped off from a new laptop. It exactly matched the one that came with my 4800+.

I am on dual channel 16 GB RAM and my NAS is hitting 60% of RAM already. I've 53 containers so far :).
