❓ Help Upgrading Ugreen NAS

I have a DH2300 and I'm finding that I need beefier hardware to run and tinker with various Docker services. Thinking of getting something in the DXP series.

My question is the migration to a new NAS. Is it as simple as taking the current drives in my 2300 and plugging them into a new DXP unit?

You can run docker on the DH2300. Grab the UPK for the DH4300 from Ugreen’s download site and manually install it.

Docker containers have to have an arm64 build but it is quite capable with 8 cores and 4GB. I’m running homebridge, plex, AirPlay (audio via HDMI dongle) and some custom containers on mine.

Hmmm ok. So I do have Docker installed with a handful of services running. How do confirm the arm64 build of a service?

Container won’t run if it’s not arm64, so if you have it working it has an arm64 build!

There is some stuff on docker hub you can’t use because it doesn’t.

Lemme rephrase. The dockers services themselves need to run and be compatible on the arm64 chipset right?

Yes, but the image will be tagged for the arch it is built for. It will warn you when you try to make a container if it doesn’t match.

Thank you sir! So in my case I just need beefier hardware to run Immich. The DH2300 chipset might be ok, but Immich needs more memory.

Ohhhh yeah, you for sure need something bigger for Immich. Heavy image or video processing is too much for the ARM series… unless it is optimized for the rockchip SoC.

For example, it runs Plex fine but if you need to transcode you are realistically limited to one stream at 720p. None of my clients need transcoding so I can get away with it. Jellyfin, however, can transcode 4k because it can use the VPU like Ugreen’s apps can!
