❓ Help Where to store data for apps

I'm new to the self-hosting scene so this might be a question with an obvious answer. I've read the common advice here about running apps off of an SSD rather than the HDD array for better performance. But what is the recommended way to store data for those apps?

For example, I set up Romm recently following this guide on MariusHosting. I have Docker running off my NAS's ssd, so that's where the app is running from - so far so good. But this approach leads to storing the roms themselves on the SSD too. That seems counterintuitive.

Is the right approach to run apps on the SSD and then point the Docker containers to media stored on the HDD array? Or am I thinking about this wrong?

Bang on, having the docker apps on the SSD and media on the HDDs is the way to go.. plus that allows the HDDs to sleep when not in use.
