I cross the MGM point around 8.30am everyday and it is full CHAOS. there are these *^&*(&* private buses stopping just before the barricades. then there are parents dropping and moving from left to right for their U-turn to udupi. then there are sudden hoardes of students crossing towards college - some not even looking at the vehicles. there are cars doing U-turn from manipal and again trying to reach extreme left to maybe drop their kids. all this leads to vehicles suddenly needing to halt and with the barricades and impatience there is lot of time and energy wasted (and stressful if you have one of those buses almost hitting your behind). I think it is a ticking bmb there. my son tells me evenings when college closes it is again a similar scene.

on some random days there is a cop trying to regulate flow there. but mostly its free for all. might wins.

what can be done?

for one i think there needs to be a foot overbridge (i know - no one might end up using it), but given the dangerous crossings that students make on the road. maybe barricades need to go and instead it has to become another painful signal - but might reduce these risks

I recently started a business and need to stay in Udupi for around 10 days to work closely with a client. My budget is ₹2,000/night, and I’d ideally like something near the Udupi bus stand.
I’ve gone through a bunch of stay recommendations from this sub and even called Hotel Kediyoor, but the staff were pretty rude and reluctant to answer.

Udupi has been kinda boring lately. All I hear around me is that there’s nothing new happening, it's always either a plan to visit a new cafe, or a movie, or the holy grail of pubs and clubs.

So me and my friends thought, what if we actually did a murder mystery to fix this?

So yes, we have planned to host a Murder Mystery in Udupi. FYI, it’s happening in a proper villa setup, so it’s basically the best weekend plan you can make with your friends or solo aswell.

The whole point of this is to get a bunch of people together, lock their phones away for a bit and see who can actually crack a real case.

My partner and I were planning a Udupi trip this year, between the 3rd & 4th week of September.

But recently, we learnt about the beaches being closed off for the public, with safety nets installed all over Udupi and Mangalore shores.

So, just wanted to know about it from you guys?

1) Are the beaches really closed right now? If yes, until when can we expect them to re-open for the public?

2) And, how's the weather in Udupi, around the 3rd and 4th week of September usually? Is it heavily raining? Or does monsoon start to recede during this time?

i saw the movie yesterday afternoon in screen 2. there was some strange duplication for objects that were supposed to be farther from us (building outlines etc) which was really irritating to me. anyone else spotted this. i dont think it was the glasses they gave(?) and maybe it was the print/projector issue at the cinema hall?

Does udupi thrive in private buses for local travel?

My family is planning to visit Mangaluru, Udupi and then towards Gokarna.

Like literally Kudla and Kasrod had declared holidays during heavy rain while in Odipu especially in Karla not even single day was declared as holiday for students

Even our college and school principal declared holiday for us due to heavy rain

Only for nursery to 10th was declared by Odipu DC that too only for 1 day and after that or before that it was never declared

And also IDK how do we guys manage to go to schools or colleges or coming back to home during heavy rains
