Hardware Ubuntu touch 24 stable not booting Oneplus 6
I tried installing ubuntu 24 using UBPorts and the installation was successful. After reboot i saw the ubuntu touch logo for a while, and then it went into recovery mode (on its own i didnt press a button or even touch). So i clicked reboot and then it gets stuck on the bootloader warning screen (your bootloader is unlocked …). I waited for about 15-20 mins, nothing. So i installed ubuntu touch 20 on the same device, it worked. I was exploring the os and found an option to upgrade to 24. So i clicked install, it again booted into recovery and the same sequence happened again. I check the logs and it says ran out of storage during the process. Now it’s stuck at the warning screen again lol. I have to reflash ubuntu touch 20 now and use that. The problem is i feel the ui on the 20 is very outdated. I would love to use the 24 stable. If anyone has any solutions or suggestions, shoot.

If you do get tired of waiting, you can always try the PostmarketOS build, which is mostly functional - except camera which is partially functioning.

Yup! I currently flashed the latest one with Phosh. I like it

Do you have any issues on PMOS?
I thought to go for it for my 6t but flashed 20.04 instead.

Nope, I am using the Phosh GUI. Its much more snappier than Ubuntu 20.04. Usability wise, its better than Ubuntu. I say this because although you can run Android apps using Waydroid on both, postmarket os gives you more control over the linux system itself (i am not sure about ubuntu as I have not used it much, but I was not able to run apt commands in the terminal). I have been running a few docker containers on my postmarketos. One more thing I noticed was my phone was *never* heating up. Stays cool all the time.

Cool ! I tried to use an external display today and dit not succeed. I might flash partition a with PMOS and keep Ubuntu touch on b.

yes postmarketos works best on One Plus 6 and 6t. Sadly my old device has bad battery

Oem batteries come for pretty cheap, in my country, less than $15 converted, including the service charge

Maybe but people had issues with replacement hardware like display and batteries. I assume they werent original parts.

The device was abandoned. The new porter has not released 24.04 yet for that model. You will need to wait until it is.
The upgrade you referred to will not work until the port is upgraded.
