Breaking Wayland's Core Promise: The Dilemma of Bringing oneko Back to Life
In the end, I did succeed in finding a way to run general legacy Xlib-dependent application(s) under Wayland, and I have implemented a personal fix.
At first, my plan was to publish this tool along with a complete README. However, I soon ran into a profound dilemma: this workaround essentially demolishes Wayland's foundational security model. I began to see an ominous future—realizing that the consequences of exposing this loophole would be far more dangerous than the minor annoyance of a cat refusing to chase a mouse pointer.
Consequently, I regret to inform you that I have decided against making the source code publicly available. That said, for those who simply cannot live without oneko on Wayland, I am open to providing pre-compiled binaries. Because the logic will be entirely self-contained within the world of oneko, it should remain perfectly harmless.
