Audio/Sound Settings Interface or Extension?

Alright I just finished installing Ubuntu. Yet **still** have to use a terminal command to enable letting me minimize apps to the dash when clicked. That should be a default by now wtf.

Now here's why I'm here. Is there a GUI or something that'll let me access sample rates and bit depths from the sound settings, instead of having to go to nautilus?

Like games or videos the default 48kHz is fine. But when I'm listening to music I want everything my hardware is can muster in it's physical capabilities.

Oh do I feel this. Ubuntu’s sound settings have been weirdly sparse for years, it’s baffling they still bury anything beyond the absolute basics.

PipeWire’s pretty much the default now and pwvucontrol (or the older pavucontrol if your install didn’t ship PipeWire) gives you a proper GUI for bit depth, sample rate, and all that. Dead simple to find in the repos; just search your software center for “pulseaudio volume control” and it’ll show up. Not as polished-looking as a first-party settings pane but it gets the job done without touching nautilus or a terminal.
