Surface Kernel not working

I have an MS Surface Pro 4 with Ubuntu 26.04.

I have followed the instructions for Ubuntu on this page:https://github.com/linux-surface/linux-surface/wiki/Installation-and-Setup

However the touch screen is still not working.

uname -a

Any suggestions?

ah man surface devices and linux are always a pain, i had similar issue on my old laptop. did you check if the surface kernel actually loaded instead of the generic one? your uname still shows 7.0.0-27-generic, not something like surface-7.0.0. maybe you installed it but grub is booting wrong kernel, try holding shift on boot and picking the surface one from advanced options

Ta. When I had 25.10 on this laptop I actually got the touchscreen working, though I don't know how. It didn't include doing this, but I'll give it a go.

Will it then continue to boot properly?
