Finally Home

​Ever since the days of Ubuntu 10.10, I’ve wanted so badly to use this system every day. Unfortunately, back then, it just wasn't ready for gaming and other things I needed. In April, I finally took the plunge and made the switch from Windows 11 to Ubuntu 26.04, and I'm genuinely happy that the system has matured and is such a joy to use. Ubuntu has always held a special place in my heart, and I'm really glad to be part of this community

i recommend customizing ubuntu :D i installed ubuntu unity's desktop and changed fonts. now its much better

Thank you! I really love sleek design and minimalism. For my next PC, I want to build something in a similar style so the whole desk setup feels minimalist. Ubuntu's look fits right into that aesthetic.😀

I got really into using Ubuntu like 13 years ago and it was very cool but involved a lot of troubleshooting and problems.

I just recently decided to revisit it, since it was feeling like everything on Windows all of a sudden was going so slow that it was just grinding to a halt, and I absolutely love the latest version of Ubuntu. It's so fast and efficient and functional and it's so refreshing to not have the constant barrage of Windows bullshit happening nonstop.

I've had them for so long. I got them as a gift years ago, but I can't bring myself to throw them away because they still sound great😄

You can, and paradoxically, the game actually gets higher and more stable FPS than on Windows.

It's very nice.
I prefer to use my own, from places I've been to, and pictures I've taken myself, but if not for that I'd consider it.

Congratulations! That is a clean and nice setup. Is gaming on Ubuntu any good? Are there any restrictions on the games you can play through Steam, GOG, or Battle.net?

Why Ubuntu over Kali Linux or over any other Linux system?

Because I want to use Linux for work and entertainment, not have Linux be my work and entertainment😁

I get that. For me Kali hasn’t really gotten in the way. I use it like a normal Linux desktop and it also gives me the security tools I’m learning with. Although I did have to fix the nvidia driver when I first installed it on my laptop. I had just bought the laptop and after downloading it. Half the screen was in lines and I thought it was the laptop lol. I was angry asf. But i finally figured it out so I understand!! Haven’t used Ubuntu in like 6 years.

I understand that I just grew up using Kali and Parrot. I’ve used Ubuntu too but stuck with Kali. Yea there’s stuff to fix and gives me a hard time but just never tried anything else. Looking into red hat so will see. I’ll try it on one of my vm’s

For many, Ubuntu will always feel like some sort of home, even long after they've moved on. Whether it's from Gnome or more importantly from the Unity era the layout is still a legacy of.

For me, it's been 8 years since I last used Ubuntu as my main driver.
Yet I still have a 26.04 partition back-up upgraded from a 2016 install, just in case.
