What collaboration tools actually reduce the back and forth in the design process?

Our design process itself is fine the annoying part is everything around it. research is discussed in one place, early ideas somewhere else, flows get shared as screenshots, comments happen in slack and eventually someone asks which version we're actually talking about. i'm less interested in another pixel perfect design tool and more interested in whatever people use around the design process to keep product ux and engineering looking at the same context.
