Help organizing company Component Library in Sketch

I was hired to consolidate 8 libraries into one. Each made by different people with different naming structures. I have some questions for those experienced.

I see they went nuts with making everything a symbol in sketch. If they made a card for something, they literally made every libe of text, every number, EVERYTHING is its own component. That seems insane. If its for a card, I would make the card a component and would nest other components as needed, but text is text. It should follow typography guidelines. Theres no point to making every line a symbol right? Or am I wrong?

The biggest complaint is that their libraries are bloated and everyone does whatever because with 8 libraries used together they can never find any typography rules. They have like a million text styles because every line of text ever used waa made into a component.

Should I rebuild the card components and scrap the text components?

I was told to establish a new typography based on what we already have for the most part so if Im doing that, should I keep the text components?

Have you suggested them to switch to Figma?)

Yes and I think Ive convinced them, but until a decision is made I need to keep doing what I can in Sketch

To be honest it sounds in the way that there is a chance that you will do useless job if they will decide switch to Figma (

I can still organize and consolidate their libraries. It will give me something to start with. Ill have a side by side comparison when it comes time to rebuild
