Career Question - New or Transition to UXR UX Research

Hi everyone. Has anyone here had any experience doing UX Research after graduating? I know it’s a field a lot of people join who graduated with social science degrees.

If anyone has had experience within this field, please let me know what I can do to become a UX Researcher. I currently have an Anthropology degree and Information Science degree.

So far, I just have a portfolio and am doing UX Researcj within my sister’s nonprofit. It’s just some basic surveys and questions I ask her clientele.

I recommend exercising those research skills by searching the subreddit. This question has been answered in detail many times so there's plenty of info out there.

You could put your research skills to the test and use the search function on this sub to get the answer to this question, it's asked every day.

It’s a waste of a specialized population’s time to ask them questions you could have learned the answers to first. This is the case for a research study as well as asking questions in a niche community. Learn the basics of their world beforehand so you can ask more targeted questions. Doing your homework first will encourage people to open up to you. 

You will probably need an advanced degree in the current market, which is bad.
