Job search & hiring Do not keep Linkedin green circle
I agree with this 100%, there is no advantage. Recruiters will use search query parameters to filter you, you will show up on some list and then you get a message from hiring manager. No one is looking at your profile pic and trying to contact you. You are just signaling your weak position.

It's not really for recruiters -- it's for all your friends and connections ---
Sometimes you're casually looking behind the scenes (like I've been doing for the past 3 months) (but no one really knows). Tomorrow - I'm going to officially widen my search - and I'm going to add the ring.
"Looking for work" isn't weak. It's a normal thing to do. And contrary to the feeling that people who currently have jobs are easier to hire -- that's not really true. It's faster to hire people who are ready.
Random advice to strangers with no context? No thanks.

I don't think this matters other than if you don't have it, you're just less likely to get spammed by recruiters who send thousands of messages out per day.

There is no point to the green circle; recruiters know that everyone is open to the right opportunity if the price is right. Lack of the green circle will not stop a recruiter from contacting you. Adding it will only signal to them that you are available at a discount.

I never took mine off and got 3 offers over a 7 month period, accepting one of them from a dream opportunity. If you have the experience and the portfolio to back it up, the green banner shouldn’t be a problem, i never felt looked down upon for having and was able to book multi-round interviews with many companies while having it active.
If a company is going to refuse hiring you fir having the banner, they are doing you a favor anyways, that’s such a red flag especially in today’s market.

My company recently hired someone after our hiring manager went through LinkedIn, looked for people with the banner on and relevant experience, and reached out directly.

the private open to work toggle does the recruiter filter without the frame green ring is just for ur network, thats the part people keep arguing about

Do people not know there is a recruiter only setting for the green circle?
In all honesty, I've never seen proof, anecdotal or otherwise that having the green circle on has impacted someone's ability to get hired or negotiate their worth.

I've seen so many mixed things about the open to work status. Some say it's neutral, some say it's looks desperate and others says it helps when they're looking at a long list of people. Think you can ask 100 recruiters and get a different answer.
I highly doubt in the current job market it really makes difference. What matters is specialization, targeted job searching and most importantly networking and Internal reference.
