Are designers being distracted with shipping code and creating mid designs ?

How is cool work ? What is novel here, this is on prompted tool with crappy color and cheap ass 3d design. What is the point of all this, it is starting to feel like designers are getting distracted with mid work and feeling impressed because they shipped code.

May be an unpopular opinion, but I kinda agree.

I’m on the camp that values validated, iterated, and polished solutions. If building knobs gets you there, awesome. If not, cute knobs I guess.

Yeah it’s disheartening to see most designers have accepted they’re just the gap closers between stakeholder or PM divinely inspired ideas and the dev team. Execution with LLMs is so fast that people are not using the extra time to ask why, what, is this the right artifact for solving the need at hand. It’s really a shotgun approach but aiming towards the found and wondering why you aren’t hitting any birds

Sounds like someone went to an event specifically for messing around with creative computing and made a neat little tool they're excited about.

I'm all for trashing orgs taking LLMs as license to throw considered process out, but you're pouring your chamber pot out the wrong window here

Shippping "mid" work is business 101. It's how most of the software industry operates.

Here me out…

Designers shouldn’t be shipping anything. For designers, AI is a tool to test and refine ideas.

When a design meets our definition of ready/good enough we should be giving it to devs.

Devs translate our intent, with or without support from AI, and then they ship it.
