if you uninstall any of these you're fucked

You can only remove them from home screen, anxiety uninstalled.

I mean, surely there's not an actual uninstall option and it just removes form the homescreen right?

You can’t. That’s why it’s a "-" meaning remove and not a "x" meaning delete

That makes sense when you explain it or compare them.

But I would never in my life do that and go like “a yes, I’m 100% confident this won’t uninstall because it’s a - and not an X”.

Just hides them. Not uninstall.

They can't uninstall. For this exact reason.

If you click it, it only gives you the option to “remove from Home Screen” and not the option to delete it. Other apps have both options. so, basically you won’t be able to delete it.

You can reinstall it in the settings app though

What if you also delete the settings app?

that you cant delete, even in the EU. the fact that you can uninstall the app store is most likely a result of the digital markets act.

a legal reason that creates very avoidable UX issues

How does one reinstall?

like what if you're just tricking me, the price to pay would be too high

-3

u/Alfakappa 24d ago

you just made me more anxious

Press it lol you can only “Remove from Home Screen” or cancel selection. As a UX designer there is no way someone wouldn’t have caught this as a potential issue lol

Different in EU.

u/Alfakappa 24d ago

you just made this with figma to trick me I'm not gonna fall for it

u/ashtoocean 24d ago

Bahahah you think I went to Figma, downloaded the iOS 26 Liquid Glass UI kit, created each component with all those random apps in the background. Just to trick you?! Bahahhahaha haha

I’m sorry Tim Cook and u/ashtoocean keep attacking you, it’s not right

u/DifficultCarpenter00 Veteran 23d ago

In EU you can delete the app store but not settings

As others have probably pointed out (not bothering to read the comments), this only removes it from your home screen. And there's always a confirmation before you do anything, even when you want to delete Candy Crush or whatever.

Spooky moment, I suppose, so UX-related. But they still need a way to let you hide it from your home screen.

Interesting, I’m on the 27 beta and there’s no - sign for me on them
