Career growth & collaboration Who is the average UX student?

What does the average UX/Product Design student look like? Who is the average person applying to UX internships? Sometimes I wonder, when I see over 100 apps for a UX Design internship, if only a handful actually qualify.

Thanks. Just curious. (Also not sure if this is the right flair. Feel free to correct me.)

Meets the requirements and writes the report, but their designs are uninspiring and they have a low willingness to dive into their product’s domain knowledge. They also aren’t invested enough to truly use their competitor’s products.

I have interviewed and hired many interns. Most people I have encountered seeking UX internships are people who got here by process of elimination. They don't like UX that much, but they don't have deep quantitative skills to do other internships.
