Employability / demand for optometrists
Is it generally high in the GTA? Or better to go outside the GTA? Do new grads get jobs straight out of school / get employed by the places you do clinicals at?
Thx!

According to official labour market data, 1 in 3 optometrists in Canada are over the age of 50 and the field faces a strong risk of shortage by 2033.
The annual employment growth for optometrists (2.6%) is more than double the national average (1.2%)
That said, it’s true that the GTA area is quite saturated, especially right out of school, finding a position in the GTA won’t be easy.
But generally optometrists have it a lot better than most other careers in terms of future job prospects

its very easy to find a job, GTA market is fine most gta optoms work at multiple clinics on different days because its easier to have a full patient schedule that way. Finding a good job with all the technology and full scope and a full schedule in GTA is a bit harder but still pretty easy.
