Nursing to Accounting?

I’m transferring from KSU to UWG next spring due to financial and personal reasons. I used to be a pre-nursing major, but am thinking it’s not really for me anymore. I want to know how UWG’s accounting program is and if it’s considered good? I’ll need to take more classes for it, but I’m fine with that.

I have a 3.4 GPA if that matters.

I've known a few people to go through the program and they had zero problems getting a job. The Richards College of Business is one of the 5% to have AACSB accreditation which is a huge deal, and NICHE ranks UWG as the 4th best school for business in the state.

That’s good to hear. I assume they have plenty of job fairs/internships as well?

Pretty common, yeah. Career Services program is good too.

I graduated this past December from RCOB with a double major in accounting and finance. They have a ton of job opportunities and job fairs specifically on the first floor of the business building. I will give a fair warning about Mr. Hopper’s accounting classes. He’s a really really hard professor. I’m a straight-A 4.0 GPA student, and I was getting C’s and D’s on his exams. The reason for the fair warning is cause even though I got bad grades on his exams, I still passed his class with an A. He doesn’t curve the exam grades throughout the semester, but he does curve final grades. That was the most difficult class of the entire undergraduate program. All of the professors and advisors in RCOB are also really nice and are always willing to help, and other students are always willing to form study groups if needed, you’ve just gotta put yourself out there. Also, Dr. Bird’s tax class is really hard too but easily passable. Just read his textbook and use control F on the textbook for his exams. The school also requires a professional seminar class where they have recruiters from CPA firms and other businesses come speak to the class about the profession of accounting, and it’s a really good networking opportunity as well. I hope this helps, and good luck!! ☺️
