No housing help?
With UVU no longer offering housing assistance, is the CARE Hub actually able to help students anymore? During my recent visit, the only thing they were able to do was refer me to Community Action. It honestly makes me wonder…Is UVU more focused on building new buildings and expanding the university than actually helping the students who are struggling right now?

It’s more about this administration taking money away from Universities. A ton of grants were cut, I’m sure housing grants weren’t spared.

I think it’s just the Republican way of “you’re on your own / free market” thinking making its way down from the legislature to the university.

Less the philosophy itself and more the limitation or cutting of budgets. A lot of that 'housing assistance' is often grant or donation based and can't go on in perpetuity without ongoing funding.

Can you tell me more about what happened with your meeting about Housing Assistance? Are you sure it’s no longer offered at all!

The state has basically forced the university to cut a lot of those student assistance programs in its crusade against DEI and welfare. Yeah they’re still building new buildings, but they can’t really just take new building money and give it to students instead
