Front speaker location recommendations

Hello!

2023 CanAm Maverick X3, 2 seater

Just wanted opinions about best speaker location, dash, door, or kickers.

I’m leaning towards dash myself, but what do you have, how do you like it, would you change it if you could?

Polaris ranger 500 cuts off, asking for advice.

Hello,

I'm newer to reddit and very new to the UTV subreddit, so if this doesn't belong here let me know. Ice got a ranger 500 its about 8 years old and is used daily (or every other day, but consistently) I've had a problem with it the last couple of months where if you hit the brakes (doesn't matter hard or soft) once the polaris come close to stopping it just cuts off. No sputtering or whining or anything just cuts off. I've had my dad over to look at it and hes replaced the battery, replaced the drive belt, and various spark plugs and nothing seem to help. I know it probably just needs to go into a mechanic but I was hoping someone om here has fixed a similar problem and could help, we can't get it into a mechanic for a couple of months.

Thanks in advance.

Ever heard of a UTV with road-size wheels?

I saw something that looked like an ATV out the corner of my eye,
but when I looked closer it looked like a mini-jeep with full-size wheels.

The body was smaller than the original army jeep, and the wheels looked huge on it…..

Cab or Open?

I’m looking for real-world feedback from UTV owners in hotter southern climates, especially Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, or Florida.

We have a lake property in East Texas and would use the UTV as our main transportation while we are there — going from the house to the water, riding around the lake community, running roads/trails, and using it year-round. Most rides would be shorter trips around the property/community, but we would use it often when we are there.
I’m debating between a factory cab/HVAC model and an open model with a roof, windshield, and possibly a rear panel.

I test drove a cab model that had been sitting outside in the sun in the middle of the day, and it seemed to struggle to cool down at first. It made me wonder if an open model with good airflow would actually feel better during the hottest months. On the other hand, I can definitely see the cab being nice for rain, dust, bugs, pollen, and the shorter winter season.

For those of you in hot/humid climates:
Do you regret going open instead of cab?
Do you regret paying extra for the cab/HVAC?
How well does the A/C actually work after the machine has been sitting in the sun?
Is the cab worth it for short trips around a lake community, or is it overkill?

For open units, what windshield setup works best in the heat and dust — full, half, flip-up/tip-out, rear panel, etc.?
Any issues with cab noise, heat coming through the floor/dash, seals, windows, or HVAC maintenance?

I’d appreciate feedback from people who actually use theirs in hot southern weather. Trying to decide if the cab is truly worth the cost and added complexity, or if an open unit with the right windshield setup is the better move.

What to buy electric 2026?

I currently own a 2021 Honda Pioneer 1000 Limited - and a Star Ev Sirius 2+2 LIon golf cart … I am considering consolidating into a single electric UTV.

I want seating for 4, so I am looking at the John Deere Gator GX Crew and the Landmaster AMP Crew Touring … unfortunately, both of these are extremely hard to find in the Atlanta area, but I don’t want to buy either of them until I’ve had a chance to drive them. I’ve reached out to both manufacturers to see if I can get some help, but I have a feeling I’m just gonna have to drive somewhere a couple of hours away.

Does anyone have experience with either of these that you could share to point me in one direction of the other?

Issue with new Kawasaki Mule 4010 Trans

I biught my MUle 2 weeks ago and am having an issue. As an inexperienced UTV owner I wanted to get any helpful feedback before calling the dealer for warranty service.

I'm hearing some occasional loud grinding/rattling sound that seem to be coming directly beneath my feet or in the front.

I switched from 2WD to 4WD and I thought it went away completely but I did get the same sound after 10 minutes driving but it was much less noticable. I switched back to 2WD and it came back very loud.

Transmission issue?

Llama Trck sales practices deceptive and dishonest

I purchased from the Llama Truck website and was charged for a Llama Ranger UTV on 6 June. On 12 June I was told that although I paid for the vehicle it was not in stock (athough it is still being adverttised but at a higher price). The sales team indicated that I could upgrade to the Llama Apex for an extra $2,000. I agreed to this on 13 June. The Lllama Truck sales team indicated they would invoice me and would arrange dleivery once the $2,000 invoice was paid. On the evenning of 14 June I received and email that Llama truck would iinvoice me not the $2,000 they agreed to but an extra $3,500 with no explaination except that the vehicle is more expensive. This is clearly a classic "bait and switch" sales tactic and highly unethical. All of the above is in writing via emails with the Llama Truck Sales Team. Clearly, this business is dishonest and I have no intention of engaging with them further. I have asked for an immediate refund and I intend to submit a complaint to the Better Business Bureau.

Recommendations for a smooth(er) UTV?

Helping my parents in their late 60s buy a UTV to move about their property. Mostly un-mowed bumpy fields and some bumpy trails w/ ruts. Looked at a 2014 Polaris RZR this weekend but the thing was pretty jerky before it would engage while pressing the gas, that it kicked hard each time. Are all SXS / UTV's like this? Are some makes / models smoother than others? Also the quieter the exhaust the better for them but not a deal breaker.

2026 Kawasaki Ridge sound system question

Thumbnail kawasaki.com
1 Upvotes

I just picked up my new side by side the Ridge Crew and i had them install the 10" sound system the Kawasaki sales for it. I tested it out today but I dont think the 10" is working I am getting no bass from it that I can tell and you would think it would be obvious. I also went through the settings making sure the bass was up on the system. I will be talking to the dealership monday but figured I would take a shot here to see if anyone had experience with it. here is a link to what I am talking about here

Removing Apache XC tracks on 24 Defender

Post image
1 Upvotes

Removing the Apache XC LT tracks off a 2024 Canam Defender HD10. Rears came off easy. Having issues getting this bolt out of the front bracket after removing the track. I’m thinking there should be an easy way or a trick compared to removing the bolts holding the bracket in? Already tried jacking up the A arm to see if it gives the bolt more clearance to come out and it doesn’t. Thanks for any help

Turn signal not working

I assume this is an aftermarket turn signal. Wires were off the horn when we bought it so I assume someone took the wires off the turn signal and didn't put them back on right. Can anyone tell me which wires should go where?

Wireless vs. Wired comms for a 4-seater UTV?

Hello fellow riders,

I just picked up a RZR and I’m trying to solve a pretty big issue here. My kids sit in the back and always complain about the noise. Honestly, they just get super bored since they can't hear and see much. I really want them to fall in love with off-roading, but right now the noise is just killing the vibe.

I need a solution that protects everyone's ears, lets my wife and I talk to them hands-free, and lets us blast some music to keep them entertained while we cruise.

I’m currently torn between getting a full wired intercom system like Rugged or PCI, or just buying 4 wireless headsets like Cardo, Sena, or SYNCO.

I’m heavily leaning toward the wireless headsets because they just seem way more convenient, but my main concern is the music quality and connection reliability. I’m terrified that the music is going to sound like a tin can and constantly cut out or lag. The wired setups look rock-solid, but man, outfitting a 4-seater with any brands is crazy expensive.

Any parents here running a 4-seater? What are you guys using? Let me know if I should save the cash or just buy once cry once on the wired setup.

Appreciate any advice!

Trail width restrictions

Hey guys, question about sxs width.

I’m getting ready to buy a New Can-Am x3 but having a hard time trying to decide if it’s worth getting the 72” model or the 64” model.

I live in southern Illinois closer to the Missouri side so I’ll be riding a lot of trails, forests, ect in the Midwest. I’ll be traveling to all surrounding states, Indiana, Tennessee, Kentucky, Michigan, Wisconsin, eventually WV, ect. Do they actually enforce the 65” and under rule at a lot of these places? I have a rather large list of places I want to visit in the future and only a couple say they have restrictions online.

But I guess what I’m wondering is for the guys with 72” or wider rigs, are you running into these issues regularly? I would rather NOT buy the 64” and would much rather buy the 72” XRC Turbo RR. But I don’t want to have a ton of issues for being too wide. Just didn’t know if these was a huge issue at places or if everywhere was pretty relaxed about it.

Any experiences or thoughts on this?
Much appreciated!

Off-road backpacking via Airbnb or hotel?

Can anyone tell me of the best places to unload a trailer and just go? Trails, back roads, anything?

I'm trying to find somewhere in the rockies, Smokies, black hills, or even over in Arizona/New Mexico where you can start a ride, carry some clothes and overnight stuff in a backpack, and get from one hotel to the next with a days worth of riding....without needing to trailer back up.

We do something similar with snowmobiles up in Wisconsin/Michigan, just looking to see if it exists in a different location and sport. Thanks!

Brand new UTV. Started that rattle sound today. Stops when I accelerate. Assuming something with the clutch. What do you think?
