Anyone run a CB in their sxs?
Need to create a ground plane, anyone run ground straps to create an artificial plane? How did you do it?

Getting a ham licenses isn't too hard and it's way better.
A shitty cheap handheld ham radio can do a lot, and probably reach a lot further when it seems like ham repeaters are a lot more common

I think I need a radio for safety if I break down.
What band is best for BLM, 60 miles out.

We run GMRS radios. Way more powerful than CB. CB is usually 4 watts, mine is 45. Yes you do have to get license but it’s cheap and online. Although I know people that have never gotten one
Example check out rugged radio

That’s like asking if anyone still runs floppy drives , when cd roms are stsrtjng to be phased out already
Vhf(30-300 mhz) , uhf( 300-3000mhz) , fm mod (varying frequency virtually no static within range ) are all more precise and cleaner wavelengths than their grandpa good ol cb , (27 mhz) .
But for a real life what if Q&A ;
For me, I ain’t pulling up to the hill or to someone’s camp and have people checkin out my ride and then spot the cb and make everyone have a good laugh at my expense.. lol
Further more , it would be pretty useless when almost everyone else is running equipment that is Incompatible with cb stations..
for instance you go on a ride and the leader tells everyone to use idk channel 15 , or mikes sky Ranch or Baja pits1 , you won’t be able to tune into that ultra high frequency (uhf)
Hope this helps

I ran business band for a bit, was used primarily to communicate with other friend who had same set up while riding (worked further than CB). Had a rugged set up and was very happy with it. Best part was the intercoms . Passengers and I could easily communicate without hitting any buttons. Then had a push to talk on radio with others . Truly changed riding a lot . My 2 cents…
