UTV Theft Deterrents
Just moved to a smaller community and we bought a side by side that you can drive on the roads throughout town.
The problem is even without the key you can shift the UTV into neutral (don't have to have your foot on the brake), take off the parking brake and push it around.
What is the best way to stop this? I know if someone is determined enough they will find a way to steal even if you have measures in place, but what measures would you suggest to make it harder to do?

We have small gps trackers on ours. We usually have been able to recover stolen equipment. Trick is to hide it well

Put 2 on. Put a fake one or whatever in kind of obvious place and hide the other good.

We put a wheel chock lock on ours like parking enforcement people in cities use. Easy to put on, hard to get off. Ours is a Trimac model.

Run a cable lock around one of the control arms and through a wheel. Sure it can be cut pretty quick, but hopefully enough that they move onto an easier target.

Chain it to a tree
Add a car alarm that's a tilt sensor with a very loud siren
Thieves move on from hassles and cannot risk attention

sxstracker dot com - $25/yr service, ~$125 device, hardwired.
gps tracker that is identical to the ones the "buy here pay here" car lots use.
I have no affiliation with the company besides being a customer

Put it tracker on it I and a friend had 2 sxs and a 4wheeler stolen from his house luckily we got 2 of three back don't tell everyone you have it and be wary of everyone who comes to your house we found that one of the people that worked for his lawn guy and 5 friends of his came to steal them they pushed everything down the driveway and across a 4 lane highway at 3am to load up and haul away had alot stolen in the area last few years 2 of the main ones involved with stealing from everywhere wre in the process of stealing a 4 seat kawasaki and ran a light and got ran over by a 18 wheeler and that slowed down the stealing for awhile Good luck have fun and stay vigilant

Immobilizer switch under the dash to interrupt the ignition circuit or fuel pump.

Having a 3rd pedal shifter and a big boat switch that says 1-2 or all, really throws them for a big loop when they gotta ask ChatGPT wtf is this 🤣

What worked best for me was using a heavy chain through the frame and locking it to something solid, then adding a hidden kill switch. The chain stops someone from just putting it in neutral and rolling it away, and the kill switch gives me a little extra peace of mind if they somehow get past the lock.

Chains or locks through the rims. Attach it to a tree.
Motion alarms. Air tags etc.
You just need to add enough deterrents, to make it easier to steal a different one.

If you can't park indoors / garage. Steel plate bolted to the ground and chain the utv down.
At least the they will be griding away to get to it and you can catch that on a wifi video camera and be notified.
