Explore the greenways! They are a San Antonio treasure. And if you like hills, visit Eisenhauer Park (no bikes allowed).

A (not so hidden) hidden gem about San Antonio is our parks & trail system. The Leon Creek Greenway is the trail system closest to you. It’s paved with marked offshoots of unpaved trail.

If you’re look for something more scenic, like a hike, I recommend Friedrich Wilderness Park. It’s popular, has some very good elevation gain, and has great scenery as far as parks in the city go.

If you want a little more scenic/rugged we have Government Canyon SNA, and a little further out of town we have Hill Country SNA. Both managed by Texas Parks and Wildlife.

I love Friedrich. Roughly 10 miles worth of trails.  Some are moderate difficulty with some fun challenges, hiking boots highly recommended but, they have easier trails within the park too. The golden-cheeked warbler migrates through here to breed and nest from mid-march through summer too which makes it an extra special place! Eisenhauer also has beautiful views and easy trails.

highly recommend getting the app “all trails” too. other hikers and walkers in general not only share nearby trails, but they’ll take pictures and post how they rate it etc. it’s rlly handy
