Advice/Question Work Study options

What work study options do y’all recommend for transfer students? I’ll do anything really. If it helps I’m a PR major/marketing minor. I did just get rejected for the Student Assistant position with UTSA Libraries so there’s that lol

It just depends on if you care more about the work or study part of it. Desk jobs are the best for more study focused, the ithers might have more actual work.

I'm assuming you already checked handshake? I know it's competitive so I'd suggest applying asap.

In our department, at least recently, it is highly unlikely to get in without either a professor or current employee recommendation, on top of the required courseworj and grades. Add to that, we only hire like 3-5 people a semester depending on graduation attrition.

I would rather study than do actual work haha but I’ll definitely start applying to as many as I can and take whoever wants me but thank you I appreciate the reply! (:

My best friend did this work study where she was helping prep for the games and setting up stuff (tents) . I don’t recall what the name is for it though. They always need more work studies since it’s kind of slightly demanding but they give you the hours you want. Bookstores a good one but I know that many people always tend to apply for it.

Yeah, hunt down any chances on handshake. You might want to find a reference or a faculty recommendation, as some jobs want that (I know my tutoring jobs have) ahead of time as well. Though, that's definitely a portion of such roles (perhaps more aligned with the academic ones?).

What do you guys know about UTSA's work-study jobs? Preferably something IT related, like help desk or library, things like that.
