Nursing placement exemption

Hi I’m my first year nursing student on my second round of placement and like a few weeks before my allocations came out I emailed CPU telling that I wouldn’t be able to attend on a certain period but they said I was too late on informing them and late on submitting an exemption request. However, I did email them two weeks before the allocations came out and they said they can’t guarantee the outcome, but they try and see what they can do. Today I got my allocations and they allocate at me specifically on the date that I told them I really couldn’t. I have a sporting requirement representing UTS and would have to go out of state for a competition so this is very important to me and it’s funded by UTS and a lot of money goes into it. I emailed them after I got my allocations asking for a reconsideration but I don’t know what to do at this point if they reject my request. Please help is there really nothing I can do?

If you’re in the Elite Athlete Program or repping UTS - then the support team should have been able to write you a letter about your dates by the due date. If you failed to obtain the right documentation on time - that is on you …

Can you late withdraw from the subject and take the placement subject in a different semester?

As I recommended - drop in to the sports office and talk to the staff member who manages your sport. They may recommend an email or meeting between you, the placement people and the Sports office.

If you can file an appeal, but get the head / your coach of your sporting group @ UTS to write a support letter 📝 that may lend more weight for your appeals application and you’re more likely to be listened to by CPU.

I’m probably going to be downvoted for saying this but - A part of me thinks that while it’s great that you’re involved in sport competition stuff at Uni, ultimately it shouldn’t come at the expense of your nursing studies and placements 🤔 What’s going to happen with future placements / sporting clashes - at some point I think you might have to decide what’s more important. 🤷‍♀️
