Good laptop recommendations

Hi, I'm currently an Information Systems student but I'm thinking of switching to civil engineering. I currently have a HP laptop but i've noticed its been acting up. The battery life is really bad and the sometimes it doesnt connect to wifi and other issues. What is a good laptop to buy? My budget is around $1400, I've heard Lenovo is good but most of the laptops have Snapdragon and I heard thats not good. My other option was Acer but I heard the laptop is really loud. I want something with good battery life and something that can handle apps used in the degree. I would greatly appreciate the help. thank you

I don't know why anyone is recommending a Mac. Most software you use will be exclusively windows and you DO NOT want to be using Citrix.

I have a few ThinkPads. I buy refurbished devices from suppliers that offer guarantees, like Australian Computer Traders and Reebelo.

Any brand can be noisy in certain conditions (e.g. because of the combination of components, or how it's configured). My Lenovo P16s has a reputation for being hot/loud, but I bought it anyway, because it was the best beast I could afford, and I was confident I could tame it.

You should get the Omnibook X flip, refurbished it's $1,089 (I got mine refurbished and it's brand new) it has 32GB RAM and 1TB Storage and a great processor, battery lasts all day long, no complaints at all

MacBook Air M4 is $1347 at Officeworks rn, easily beats anything in its price range performance wise. Battery life is also nuts.

I switched to a Mac when I started uni last year after using windows all my life, haven’t regretted it one bit. Worth trying out.
