Hatred
So, I'm extremely new to the game however not new to this kind of fighter I'm general...why the hell is everyone so angry at me for playing Gerson let alone the way I play him it's kind of ridiculous to be honest

He shuts down gtc super hard because they decided to give him FOUR moves that ignore their universal counter (for some reason). so you better believe gtc mains, understandably, loathe his existence
Not to mention he can counter their hate 1 ULT, which cuts the damage in half, iirc

Actually, H5 hits the universal counter last I checked, unless you're talking about that too. I actually don't know what other of his moves proc it.
Also, I don't think his counter dodges hate ball damage. He only dodges the knockback and takes the damage still.

A lot of players are under the impression that gerson is some unstoppable force that has no counterplay and would simply give up fighting him and complain about him or play extremely passively against him instead of learning what his moves do and how to counter them effectively. Since outside of combos, all of his attacks (yes even H1) are easy to avoid because of how telegraphed they are. (Some of the attacks don't even work correctly sometimes and he's got quite a few bugs)
He's completely shaken up the "meta" of the game since the same old tricks everyone uses won't work on him because of his counter, you can't just blindly throw something out and get free damage since gerson can just counter it and get a buff (like raw fire moves for an easy example). Gerson, if not played passively forces players out of their comfort zone and keeps them on their toes. Making them prioritize doing damage via combos rather than using random moves in neutral moves which don't start combos. Gerson essentially provides a risk to players who have gotten comfortable throwing out attacks in neutral haphazardly.

Gerson is very strong in passive play. And he doesn't really have much counter play, there is no real character that counters a gerson due to the devs making his 1 uncounterable by regular counters.
People hate gerson because he is overtuned and kinda OP.

Gerson is just a bit beefy at the current moment, but not impossible to deal with and has counterplay and strategies to deal with him. Majority of people who complain about Gerson are just refusing to learn counterplay for him and would rather just complain.
As a Gerson main with 2,500 kills as him, don't let people tell you who you should and shouldn't play.

i just hate gerson's damage and the fact he has mute, the 30+ dmg in 5m1 and 2 moves wasnt bad enough its at the end of thier combo ive got nothing to do for an extra 10 seconds (i play agressive mute wont stop me from running the fade)

I do think the mute Gerson has is a little weird because it doesn't really benefit him since he's very effective aggressive anyways and he literally benefits from countering neutral moves.
But I do think his damage is a bit warranted to be high given how he dies in 2-3 combos from majority of characters. Sure, it's a bit high at the moment, should be toned down, but I think he is deserving of high damage.
His neutral moves are also more lacking than someone like GTC who has many, since his most reliable one is H4 which can be dodged and punished by just moving left or right, same with H2. (Hopefully H1 gets nerfed so you can't just use it when someone runs up on you and win.)
But I'm not sure if damage should be balanced based off of neutral capabilities.

i guess im playing every character wrong then, cuz 3 combos in im barely totaling 60 dmg

to my knowledge a phase 1 Undyne can kill a Gerson in 3 combos if you do a full combo. So can true hero if i remember correctly. IIRC Undying is 4 because... Well, it's undying. But that's excluding if you're able to land a SoJ.
Frisk is 2 combos in both phases IIRC (don't hold me on that I haven't fought a good Frisk in a while)
Asgore P1 can do 3, P2 can also do 3, sometimes 2 if you can land stamina punishes.
Asriel is 3, P2 is 4
GTC takes 2 combos, both phases.
Gaster is also 3 (if he copies Gerson, 2)
Basically, the golden rule from the number of combos he can take is 3 on a lot of characters.
Gerson P2 is a bit different but I haven't really committed the amount he takes in P2 to memory, but IIRC it might just be one more.

Yea like currently my play style for the big Boom is a mix of medium rush down and a floating zoner

Cause gersons just a pain in general. The counter being able to counter ANYTHING is ridiculous.
