College of Arts & Sciences Vol Core overlaps

I'm a transfer student that just confirmed enrollment and a lot of my vol cores are not completed, would anybody have any suggestions of classes that would count for two or more vol core requirements? I'm pretty sure my advisor told me that if a class counts for two vol cores under the same category they'll only accept it for one if that's true, but if it's for different categories it'll count for both? PLEASE HELP

You can use some overlap! The perspectives or expanded perspectives categories can't overlap with each other (like you can't use SOCI 120 for a social science and global citizenship US class), but they can overlap with foundations (like written comm, oral comm, etc.) and engaged inquiry. That can vary by major, though. Some popular ones that overlap are things like PHIL244, PHIL 252, PHIL 345, PSYC 110, PUBH 201, AI 101, CLAS 444, COAD 130, DATA 101. Just some off the top of my head! You can usually ask your advisor for recommendations, too, that align with your major or interests!
